The BBC produced "Two Of Us", a gay teen drama by Roger Tongue in 1986. Written for, and shown as part of, their standard teens' TV output. Mind you, they did wimp out and cut a couple of scenes before transmission...

More recently, the BBC also returned to the theme of sexuality in "Byker Grove", a childrens soap set in Newcastle-on-Tyne, UK,. The storyline dealt with a boy arkwardly coming out to his friend (by kissing him).

There can be very few other instances of children's TV taking on the subject of sexuality in such a positive way (if at all). Especially among such respected mainstream broadcasters.

Thanks for that I haven't watched Byker since Ant and Dec were in it. Commitments of work etc. Duly noted and will be added once I get around to re-registering as Berilia smiley - smiley

Also, from memory, the BBC only showed it a while later late at night and not during schools hours as intended.
