Welcome back, Amy! I have always wished I could afford Zolo IRL...
Are they threatening a hard freeze down your way, ox? I gotta go out and lag pipes round the water softener and get the pool ready to pump all night... and I've even drawn some water into jugs in case there are problems.
Actually, yknow, I had delivered one sewer monster some months ago, but it's the recent action at the sewer itself that inspired me. I imagined the monsters drawing near, waiting for the spam wagon to arrive.

I like the sewer monsters, Lil.
Is Florida expecting a freeze? Last I heard on the weather channel it was going to be cold, but well above freezing. But then, I'm not really paying attention to the rest of the country, since they are predicting "blizzard-like" conditions for us in the northeast. I'm not convinced that this isn't the annual hysteria over the first big snow storm, though. The most preparation that I'm doing is moving the snow shovel into the house so I don't have to dig it out of the shed with a piece of cardboard (I learned that lessons once).

Yeah, the sewer monsters are nice. Glad the kidnapped rat-ants were eventually moved away from them, though...

Meanwhile back at a good real-life beach, life is real good... Matina a martini please

Hi all! How be things?
Matina, a for myself, thankyou...
Ah, wish I was at a beach right about now...with my laptop that is...
Hehe, funny thing yesterday. You might all know that it's finally snowed in Britain, and I woke up yesterday morning to the radio, as usual. When the news came on, they mentioned a sudden snowfall over Britain. I thought no, that couldn't be, not down here! Sop I got dressed, and opened my curtains, expecting a normal, overcast wet day. Seriously, I literally jumped back behind the curtains when my eyes had to suddenly adjust to all the white light out there!
And it's still white-floored around here even now. Problem is, it's hard to get to and from the new house, see, so we're making little progress there. My room's almost done though, and my lovely new lights are up!
I might get a webcam soon, so people who are interested *everyone looks away...* can see what it looks like...

New house? Of course we are interested in seeing it. I've got an old, new house myself.

That was taken before I bought it. The "For Sale" sign isn't there anymore.

One of the best newspaper headings I have seen was "Frost Covers The Ground".
The story was about British TV personality David Frost's new interview show.

Ooh, very nice...
Yeah, mine's an old house too. Built in the very early last century, I think. It's only four bedrooms (which actually wasn't much at that time), but the master bedroom takes up roughly 1/4 of the house! 1/2 the top floor!
Naturally, that isn't my room...
Actually, my parents are going to have the 'spare' bedroom (2nd largest), while we get the big one decorated, because it could take a while.
Oh my, you should see the state the house is in though! Half the windows are jammed shut, the kitchen's terrible (we're fitting a temporary one in before the main one gets here, just because we can't use the current one), and extension, built in the 1970's somewhere, is freezing cold and dirty! The house hasn't had any money spent on it in decades, I'm sure!
Oh, and since it was an elderly lady who sold it to us, we've been left with the special equipment in the bathrooms, including one of those bathlifts you see in adverts!

Oh, sorry Loony, symlpost...
Speaking of another Frost, does anyone here watch 'A Touch of Frost' starring David Jason? Excellent drama that is...
Along with 'Midsummer Murders' and 'Inspetcor Morse' (RIP)...

Hi Titania!
Ah, Morse is great...
They'll be showing all the reruns now it's over...
But I can't argue with that, eh?

I think "A Touch of Frost" has made across the ocean to this side, but I haven't seen it. And it's been years since I watched Inspector Morse.
Sounds like you'll have your weekends full for a while with home repairs and redecorating. Mine are, anyway. My house is not quite as old - only about 60 years. I am finding it an excellent source for future entries in h2g2. I've already done one on removing wallpaper (about to be submitted), and I can add a couple on steam heat and stripping paint off windowsills.

Hehe, d'Elaphant, you must remind me to tell you of the time we painted over peeling paint! Had to strip the walls down all over again!
I'm afraid I must be off now though. I'll see you all tomorrow!
Toodlepip!

Hello, everyone! Lil, I think we'll have a freeze over my way Saturday night. I have a few orchids I brought inside, and I will cover my young papayas and the lone banana. My yard is a mess, most things have gone wild (great year for oranges, though; my trees are loaded). I wish I had a pool!

Hey, B-17! I'm sure your weather is a bit more than just a slight freeze! *is there a freezing Smiley?*

Hasn't been above 0C since some time last week. Actually, it must have been above 0c at some point otherwise it wouldn't have snowed yesterday. Going to and from work is a bit of a laugh at the moment.
So much salt on the roads that it makes your windscreen hard to see through, because it's so cold, you cannot clean your windscreen because the waterbottle is frozen, and any water on your windscreen either freezes or evaporates (depending on how high you have your car heater on) leaving concentrated salt behind, making it even harder to see through!
Any plans for New Year?
