Oh my, GDZ, that sounds like an enormous worry and concern for you all

Just back from a hectic London trip - flew with daughter and her bf to Luton, had to wait about 45 mins for a connecting train into the city, but my lovely son waited there for us, and by 9 pm we were on Brick Lane cruising for a curry, followed by mad karaoke in a pub, and cocktails in the lovely hotel where we'd been stranded by the Icelandic ash cloud a couple of years ago.

And I'm kicking myself that I didn't get a photo with my 2 offspring!

Saturday I headed off to best friend's for wardrobe weeding, greek salad making, and Eurovision (Yay Sweden! What a great song!)

Sunday I met up with my youngest sister and her partner, who works at Kew Gardens - a place of wonders I have never previously visited. Stunning colours in all those beautiful flowers.

Left Ealing at 4, having sternly told daughter (doing an audition at Stella Mann college in Bedford) and bf (visiting a music pal in Boston Manor) to be at the airport no later than 6 pm. They were there by 5.30, I was only on the shuttle bus at 6.10. Went straight through to departures, knowing that the gate closed at 6.55, only to be caught in the longest and slowest security queue I have ever known. And at 6.55 we were still in it. I was convinced we would miss our flight. We hared down the departures pathways in search of our gate, and made it on time (in fact, there were still people behind us in the boarding queue!)

Finished Iain Banks' Canal Dreams while away (odd one, not many laughs, and a bit too violent for me) and started Game of Thrones, in a vague attempt to keep up with who's who and what's what on the Tv series.

Congrats to mini on the lil mouseling and the early degree...

Lil, glad to hear you're progressing so fast. I hope you can go home soon, and that that fire is no where near your home.

Day 3 in the office without water - it's only the hottest days of the year so far...

Hot and humid here in Central Texas, USA. Walking outside I was reminded that this place can make one feel like one is drowning while walking down the block. Still, the magnolia is blooming and I managed to do yard work this weekend, so I'm feeling pretty good about it over all.

Work is about as busy as should be expected coming back after a holiday weekend, so back to it for me!

Nothing to report. OT (occupational therapy, i.e., rehab) is going well.

Well, darn it. Three weeks after we put our house on the market, the piece of empty land across from us has also been up up for sale, with residential planning permission. Come, buy the Vips' house. Comes with its own building site.

My entire diary for today consists of sitting at a desk and doing work, I may get to make some phone calls and go out my office for lunch.

I'm a bit scared by this to be honest.

Welcome to office life Z. You get used to it more and more as you feel each little piece of your soul dripping away.

I need some ill people around. I like the sort of day where I have number of people, and my only task is to 'keep them alive until the next shift'.

A nice simple to do list. It's a bit like space invaders, expect they're all trying to die, and you're trying to stop them.

went on a trip to the lake district
I now feel like I'm owed a weeks worth of sleep
bump did not make for an enjoyable walk anywhere...
and it was still too hot
that looks to be coming to an end now though the sky is all cloudy and grey, feels much more normal than sunshine

BB, you have electricity AND water right now? Clearly something has gone horribly wrong.

It's Wednesday again, which means pub trivia tonight. I just have to get through the next 8.5 hours of work first.
