Little brother has won a prestigious post doc fellowship. I am insanely proud, and certain I'm not going to be the first prof z in this family. In the uk professor is a very senior title, thst is only for the most senior lecturers. I really proud of him. And not jealous in th slightest. Well a bit.

I was the first Dr Z though.

I also feel slightly guilty about how easily it is to wander around Lisbon speaking only English. It makes me feel rather evil and colonialist. Then I remember that all of Brazil speaks portuguese.

It's leading into a long weekend here in "The States" which has meant that work was crazy in the morning and is falling off quickly this afternoon. Wonder if they will notice me napping?

I'm not sure how much worse this week can get where C is concerned.

I was checking through his phone on Monday and found some very inappropriate pics on it as well as some text messages that I consider to be extortion. The pics are so inappropriate that I called the police because I will not get my teaching license if I am associated with them. I also found pics in his user account on my laptop, ages of these people is unknown, the police have copies of that data as well.

Today, I got a call from his school saying that he has been suspended for the rest of the year for bringing a knife to school. If the blade had been half an inch longer, the call would have been requesting I come meet with the police at the school.

Not looking for fixes at this point, the court system will take care of that, just needed to get this off my chest with the people that I trust with this sort of thing.

It's a good thing I know where my is or I might have lost my mind this week!

I'm spending a lazy day on my sofa today, catching up on random tv. Tonight is all about pub trivia, though, and I'm looking forward to a fun time.

I do like a good pub quiz, Gw7en. Unfortunately we can't seem to find one around here that finishes before my bedtime. Seriously, I don't want to stay up past midnight on a Monday just to find out if I've won some beer tokens.

Yes, pub quizzes and smart phones. [insert expanded rant]

Actually, I will. Why do people think it's fun to go to a pub quiz and then look up all the answers? Seriously, it's not longer a quiz so much as a competition to see who can use Google the quickest.

Hnestly, no idea.

Nothing overly dramatic but a wee scare last night. The dog (who you all know the we all love) snuck out on one side of the house and in on the other - where the fruits of two hours of C's work in the kitchen was cooling off: a chocolate-mousse cake.

He had plenty - we figured out that he must have had the equivalent of 200 g of . The interweba had conflicting info on how much is dangerous/lethal to a 30 kg dog so we phoned the "ER" of the Copenhagen Vet Hospital and their calculation said "bring 'im in!"

So we did - and he had a meal followed by injections to make him throw everything in his stomach up and then another one to stop the nausea. And then 12 active coal tablets to be given 6 at a time when we got home and 5 hours later. Which was at 21 and 02 (9pm and 2am) . C, bless her, even if it was her cake he'd ruined, came with me to the vet and volunteered to take the late pill feeding.

I have been awfully neglectful of h2g2 lately. Having one of my occasional deficiencies of Hootoo-love.
