*glances at weather* Yep, today's like Hoth. Fortunately, the roads weren't so bad that I couldn't do groceries. Though I forgot to get socks, that's something for tomorrow, then.
Today was productive. Mostly in terms of fixing bugs. Well ... and causing them, to be fair. I made the "copy and paste a bit of code for use with a different set of variables, then forget to change one of the old ones to its new counterpark" thing again. Although this *did* lead me to another bug I hadn't even known I'd been causing!
I'm now almost-but-not-quite at the same spot I was when I started moving from XNA to OpenTK. The last thing before getting to that point was getting it to be able to display text,* and I discovered that someone else had put together a library to do exactly that, and it pretty much exactly serves my purpose, apart from a modification or two it could use. I think I'll be done with the base game-engine by February.
*You can't JUST "make text appear on the screen" in a video game like it's a word-processor, because everything that appears on the screen has to be some sort of image. So you need to convert the line of text into an image, and what with one thing and another, you need to do it well in advance. The solution: create an image with *every* letter you'll need down the road, and store information for each character, so that when it's time to make the text appear, the game is actually cutting and pasting them out and putting them together as if it was using newspaper clippings to make a ransom note.

Extremely varying weather on the way to w*rk this morning. At starting point (just south of Stockholm): raining s and s. At commuting centre: fluffy, dry, light snow swirling in the wind. At w*rk: snow mixed with rain and now clearing up, changing into sunshine.

A mild day here in Southampton. A little grey - still no snow, boo!

Metal Chicken Posted Dec 9, 2011
Cool and damp in the Peak District, the light dusting of snow on the hills earlier this week has melted away.
Party dress and impractical shoes sorted. Off to the office Christmas do this evening. So that'll probably be an early night for me, these events are more of a duty than fun I find.

Just dress and shoes - no accessories?
Our work do was last week - there are photos of me doing karaoke floating around Bookface at the moment, but fortunately no videos.

Candi - now 42! Posted Dec 9, 2011
Beautiful full moon visible from the train window as we travel home after a happy day in Leeds. We visited Leeds City Museum and sampled oranges from the pyramid at the Henry Moore Institute

Also bought two cheery tree decorations and a shaped beeswax candle from the German Christmas market (though we didn't sample the as we had little lad with us.)
A great little day out

Agapanthus Posted Dec 9, 2011
Oh, please, please can I have a cup of tea. I've spent six hours solid trapped in the bathroom, followed by a merciful three-hour nap. There's a lot of stomach-bug going round Nodnol at the moment and I suppose My Turn Had Come. And now I am very hungry and very thirsty and daren't eat anything so at least I should have a cup of tea. Please?
Weather, wet and windy yesterday, cold and sunny today. This time last year it had already snowed several times, even here in Nodnol - second unusually cold winter in a row. This year, it's all peculiarly mild and I saw a butterfly yesterday, poor little thing, being blown about the street like a scrap of paper. Britain doesn't have a climate, it just has weather. Sometimes, rather stupidly extreme weather - witness storm in Scotland yesterday. There was a terrifying photograph of lorries that had blown right over on a road we know very well, and have driven on often. Eeep.

Yar, keep posting posts like that. They're educational and interesting. Ransom notes indeed! And I do that copy-and-paste screw up too.
