, Bea!
My friends who lost their power on Wednesday night? They're still in the dark as of 3 hours ago...and it went down to 33F in their part of town last night. This is nuts -- they live 10 miles from the downtown area of the second largest city in the US Makes me feel a tad insecure, -- although I've got power; all I have is a small electric heater.
Good one Marv, but you're getting the shoe anyway...

Hot chocolate first thing in the morning? Yes pleease!
Temperature dropped, so the thin layer of snow is still out there...

Today was, indeed, a day of rain.

"Hmm. 9°C, Cloudy? It's like ENDOR out there. Temperate, but grey and cloudy. (Stick around and you may get your own animated series.)"
Today was also a day in which I didn't sleep perfectly well the night before, slightly overworked myself during the day, and then (mostly due to the lack of sleep, I think) concluded that said hard work had not been worth it.

*Doesn't mention Bespin and with all this Hot Chocolate around, suspects his v/_\3 may soon be out of a job.*

So how are you? What are you up to at the moment?
And how many people have their Christmas Decorations up yet?

A cup for me too, please
In Sweden, it is traditional to at least put up advent candlesticks (mostly electrical ones) on your (indoor) windowsills on the first Sunday of advent. They usually look like this:

Lights up the darkness a bit, and almost every window has one. We didn't discover until a few days ago that we don't have any window sills in our current office...

Tea for me, please.
Coffee is visiting from next Friday. I am counting down the days. Long-distance is hard.

Those are quite popular over here too, Ti, in recent years. My parents have at least one. Didn't know they were Swedish though.

I've got one too! It has special lightbulbs that flicker and, from a distance at least, looks quite realistic.
I bought it in Woolworths a few years ago and always hope that the bulbs don't blow as I don't know where I'll be able to get replacements from now that Woolworths closed down.

IKEA might have spare bulbs, but I'm not sure if they have that specific kind.

Fiddling with Outlook 2007 settings (which we switched to recently at w*rk) and I can't figure out how to see if the recipient has read my mail (without resorting to using receipt). Anyone know if that's even possible?

We're apparently cheap here in Denmark - we only have four lights in our advent-light-thingumies (one per advent Sunday)...:

-which actually shows another tradition, the Danish Christmas stamp. Not valid postage as such but it is tradition to put them on letters in December and the revenues go to some relief organisation. Of course Email hasn't done wonders for that...
Has anyone heard the bots rumble with the Goo Spruce?
