I suppose the best response ever given about an Infinite Improbability *anything* was Arthur Dent in the original radio play: "Don't ask me how it works or I'll start to whimper."
Today was ... quite unproductive, because I didn't sleep very well last night, due to waking up too early for no apparent reason, and I didn't have the least bit of energy to do more than remove an unnecessary bit from the game-project. (There's a subset of the OpenTK framework which is meant for backwards-compatibility with older bits of code they aren't formally using anymore; I was only using it for one thing -- loading audio-files -- and I found out the "proper" way of doing that, so ...)
I've also discovered the Wizard of Oz books. I'm reading the first one now. The dialogue isn't entirely realistic (I've been spoiled by Pratchett), but the story itself is quite charming.

I haven't read the Oz books since I was a child -- aren't they originally from the 1920's? At least one of them is quite dark in tone, as I remember.
I'm still poking around in javascript. Cookies, now. They have their uses but I hate writing them.

Milla, pepe doesn't seem to know about our smiley collection! I will give her a proper welcome when she comes back.

The original Oz books are great. The Tin Man is the first cyborg.
Hiya Pepe.

Hi there Pepe!
"it's the wolf, it's the wolf!" in cartoon voice. Nice looking beast, but I think I'll curl up a little bit away from those busy jaws. Hello Flamedancer.
Off to look at a 4x4 pickup this morning. Nothing worse than inspecting used cars. It's a minefield.

Phew that was a backlog and a half. I do hope they manage to revive a woolly mammoth.
Welcome back PP, I'm fairly newly returned after getting locked by the Big British Castle too : )
Sorry to hear about your work shenanigans Irving. Seems to be happening all over the place. Both Ag and I are facing management/intitution nonsenses too. My pipedream Scottish plan B is looking distinctly scarily battered after Hurricane Bawbag : (

*sniffs towards the notes that it, too, smells of researcher (and so makes the (correct, though she has no way of knowing that) assumption that the researcher is safe), gives a friendly whuff, but puts paw on top of haunch, just in case*

Oh, a wolf! How wonderful. I admire wolves greatly, I always root for them on nature documentaries.
Conversation I had with a friend earlier:
Ag: 'That city in Switzerland, you know, with the lake, name's on the tip of my tongue.'
Friend: 'Geneva?'
Ag: 'No, the other one, we've been there...'
Friend: 'Zurich? Zurich doesn't have a lake.'
Ag: 'Yes it does.'
Friend: 'No it doesn't.'
Ag: 'The large body of water in the middle of the city? Did you notice that?'
Friend: 'That was a river!'
Ag: 'Lake.'
Friend: 'River.'
Ag: 'LAKE. Zurichsee. LAKE.'
Friend: 'It was a RIVER.'
Ag: 'It IS a LAKE. How could you spend a weekend in Zurich and not notice it was a LAKE. A great big one.'
And then I couldn't stop laughing, and my friend is a tad miffed with me.

We need two more wolves and a full moon and then we have a t-shirt.

Well, I'd say you're both right Ag, since Zürich has both; the river Limmat that flows through the city, and the lake Zürisee (as the locals like to pronounce it).

Titania - I'd better tell my friend at once! (I find that if I eat humble pie at once and lavishly, people think I'm adorable and forgive me for being cantankerous and RIGHT most of the time).
Key: Complain about this post
