Mini, I also hope for a speedy recovery for your Mom.
Made it home in one piece, now for the unpacking...

>> I can't see my own braklights while driving can I?
Um, no, but when it's dark and you park somewhere I regularly look for a reflection or something and check the rear lights.

my dad just called, mum is stable and heading in for a brain scan to check what exactly is happening. He is going to go visit later today and will call with any news.

Haragai:
"when it's dark and you park somewhere I regularly look for a reflection or something and check the rear lights."
Fair enough, but that would require me to think there might be something to check. Too much thought required.
Hoping for good news for Mini's mum.

Maybe I have been driving too many years, but if I begin or park my car in the dark ... Any corner 'driving' light missing catches the eye and instinct. Of course, brake lights do need to be looked for.

2 week backlog
Actively avoiding packing for a 4-day road trip - I must get off hootoo!
Marv - I read the article on Utah; In Sweden during the 'restricted' years, you also had to order food to order alcohol. So, many places had a dish that went out to customers, and back in untouched, then 'served' again and again, to the drinkers. A plate of herring and bread or such cheap food...
Thinking of Z's dyslexia- I heard about someone designing a typeface which should be easier for dyslexics to read. I wonder if it works?
A hidden post, and commiserations for Lil make me curious. I hope no friends are affected, whatever that was.
Agapanthus; When I had restless legs, a glass of tonic water (containing quinine) seemed to help me. These days, plain water at bedtime is a little relieving.
... and the hidden post is explained. Sad story.
Mini, I'm so sorry to hear your mum was headed for neurosurgery. I'm glad she is stable, and under excellent care.
Additional and
where appropriate.

Mum is somewhere in Glasgow. Hoping for a phone-call update around 5pm from Dad. I'm assuming at this stage that no news is good news.
My essays of doom need handing in this Friday, so I'm currently using them as an avoidance tactic. To help me keep my mind off worrying about mum. They aren't going to be great, but they will have to do.
Hopefully I can go visit soon.

Mini - I want you to e mail your tutor *NOW* and explain the situation about your Mum. If your essays of doom aren't ok then the Uni will only take it into account if they knew about it in advance of the mark being published.
Glad she's in Glasgow, being an Edinburgh Neuro-person it sticks in my throat to say this, but the neurosurgeons in Glasgow are very good.

Mini, I'm thinking of you right now. I know too well what it's like to have a parent in the hospital.

Back from very good, very relaxing weekend in the cabin in Sweden. First time in ages we've been there all 4 of us.
