Oh yes I would, I tried reading all of just this new thread and my head begin to spin at an alarming rate.
Hey, there wouldn't happen to be any coffee around would there?

Oh, and hello Marv, yes it has been a long time hasn't it...
I've been .. *looks unfocussedly of into the distance*
... busy.
That five years just kind of flew by, didn't it .. like a crashing Boing 747 that is on fire and spinning out of control.

Beebs, have you met Matina? She's our chief maidbot; she rules the kitchen. There's another maidbot called Chloe, who is rather translucent and spends a lot of time in the linen closet, and I ~know~ that you know about the linen closet.
We've got birthday cake for Joanna. What a birthday present for her, having you show up!

I thought that shimmer looked vaguely familiar, but with the new glasses, one can never be sure!
Beeble, good to see you. How *have* you been?
ltp, the freemasons and guilds are two entirely different things. You see, in the 18th century, men who had once been a part of guilds, or who had fathers/grandfathers...
Oh, lord, here I go again. Can I *please* stop thinking about history for 5 minutes? ARGH!

Well, the re-enactors market was ace... If money was no object I could have fully costumed all my LARP characters several times over! But I had set myself a spending limit so I got a brown tricorn, a black singlet and a leather shoulder bag.

Thanks Matina! Yes, I've heard of your bots but not met them yet, a fascinating place you've got here. I remember when it was a one-room studio.
I'm still getting my hootoo legs back .. it's been a while.
Good to see you too Montana, but please, don't stop thinking about history on my account ... I really need to focus I lot of time on studying freemasonry .. perhaps that can be the subject of my post doc. Though I feel men in suits might show up at my door if I do.
As to me, I've been keeping myself busy. I now have an MA and I'm living in Montreal and working on my PhD in Communication. But mostly I've been writing, promoting obscur subcultural movements that I fear to mention too much here incase auntie beeb thinks I'm being naughty and gives me a talking to and learning how one becomes that obscur species known as an "Academic" .. and let me tell you, what an odd world it is.
It's funny how I come to be back. This is the firt semester I have had since starting my MA 3 years ago that hasn't been insanely busy. Two years of MA with my head buried in the sand, desperately finding out how much I *didn't* know about philosophy and cultural studies and trying to tread water in a program loosly framed around such things; writing about bisexuality and polyamory and subjectivity and all sorts of groovy things; and now I am in a communication studies program and reconecting with my old lost love new media studies.
I'm taking this wicked course on the social and policy implications of the Internet and want to write my paper about virtual community, commodification, apropriation, homesteading, and the like. . and guess what I think of ... zaphodistas, "my home" vs "my space" arguments, amazon dot com links in fora, BBC mergers etc, etc.
So I came home, because it really was past due, to take up this thread of my life again and do some hardcore situated theorising at the same time.
Good coffee, by the way.

Hi Beeblefish, nice to meet you.
I get a tiny prod of when I hear salonistas tell about their studies. Of course there is an element of research in journalism - and I do get my curiosity satisfied to a certain degree - but it could be nice to settle down with just one subject for a while. I've toyed with an essay of why readers enjoy crime novels/detective stories. Or to write a book/website about my dad's art.
Happy b'day J'au æmne (æ is one of the Danish letters ).
*Has a piece of cake and a to speed her on the way*
I've just tripped over a job ad that sounds interesting. Unfortunately the deadline is tomorrow - in twelve to fourteen hours -and I'm in no mood to sell myself. Never mind. I need a steady income, colleagues and new inspiration.

Hello to MoFoLo, tartaronne and Hati, and hello and happpy birthday to J'au æmne!
My oh my, !
As tot he test, I got
100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, and 88% Expert
and discovered that for years now I've been trying to write letters on pieces of "standing still".
I could barely resist constructing elaborate scenarios that would make other answers possible though. Like when camping in the woods where there might be dangerous animals and having to remember to bring the bear essentials, or, the great aluminium contest, where the winner is awarded a metal.

I've been away for the weekend, supposedly sorting more wedding things out (hair, chairs, reading my mother is going to do), but really watching quite a few people being incredibly annoying and useless. C'est la vie. At one point I was trying on my dress with my shoes and Mum and sisters all went off to supper leaving me stuck in dress I can't get out of single-handed and unable to come downstairs as S wasn't supposed to see the dress... So feeling just a little annoyed and snarly .
Hello, Beeblefish, nice to meet you. I'm not normally , I promise. More
Happy Birthday J'au! Trademark hand-knitted socks in midnight blue with little silver planet motif, I think.
Marv, Amy, hope shins are returned to normal colour and shape, and psyche feeling less jolted.
And friendly greetings to everyone else.

Yo Beeblefish! Long time since I saw you around, I would be surprised if you remember me.
C got a lesson in listening today. He chose not to listen to instructions at church so, he got to wait till we got home to eat. The rest of us ate out.
