kewl. I was just lurking a few conversations, and i noted that some don't have all that many people participating, and some have gone on for a long time, and some not... just curious, but thank you. I'll keep my eyes open.

Broke down and bought coffee for the whole office. A pound of the good stuff, to keep us going until someone goes out and gets another 2 pounder of the stuff we usually get.

At some point Mrs SG V and I were discussing what we'd done right - exactly as mentioned a little higher up, our kids were acting up at home but being good when out. We wanted to find out so we could write a book about it and become rich .
Really, I believe it's like with dogs (throw that at a dinner party and you'll always have somebody yelling at you that children are much more (insert whatever value) than dogs). Love and consistency takes you soo far. And, I agree with the previous honoured speakers, let them know the values and the rules and that those are not objects of negotiation.
My wife frequently recalls an incident when she was a teenager when a Mother and a child were visiting them. The kid was acting up a bit and the Mother at some late point said: "If you don't behave, you can sit in the car. And this time I mean it!"
Mrs SG V at that point decided that she wanted to do better than that when she became a Mom. And I would say that she has indeed

Oh that's right, I meant to post this for Irv, since he gave back the backlog exemption passes.

People marve that my daughter is so polite, and says please and thank you. Really, are those negotiable? I don't think so!

I can be bribed for backlog passes as well. All it takes is a good beer or single malt.

Surely your run of things going phut must come to an end soon, Lil. I hope the clock was the last of it and that the upturn will begin
Hope also that those with wheezy chests, sicky tums, painful lumbar areas and any other lurgies I haven't mentioned are all soon feeling better.
I'm off to pack for my weekend in Scotland; big conference, plus seeing No2 and my sister. The ten minute lecture about not destroying the house has been delivered to No3. I was tempted to put one of my fingers in one of his ears to stop my words coming straight through his head without stopping.
I can rely on him not to behave antisocially outside the house - but what he does in The Towers, especially his own wing, can hardly be described as ideal behaviour from my point of view

Our fair capital, Mini
I bet it's freezing.
The coldest place I have ever experienced was half way up the Waverley Steps one January. And, of course, I'm turning into a southern softie down here.

I grew up in Aberdeen - and always found Embra much colder. I find dry cold easier to deal with than damp cold.
As for The Weeg? It's just permanently damp. I can hardly remember a time in twenty years when it wasn't raining. Ok. I exaggerate. A bit.

I grew up over on the west coast so i am used to it being wet, but not half as cold! I can see myself hibernating next winter!
I am going to be in Edin on Friday. Micro meet?
