Well, well, well. I think I picked a good day to be away. Can't say I like Alabastard (deliberate mistype). I'm sticking with classic goo. (That last sentence would sure bring odd looks if said in RL ). Alabastard just looks like so many other web sites - the classic goo was something that set H2G2 apart. And I agree with the comments about a 'newest posts' button and that stupid preview button. I keep hitting it when I go to post. Anyway, that's my take on it.

*Ampton comes in, frowning, from downstairs. GL does a double-take.*

No, I am using Goo. I am comtemplating alabaster though (not seriously)

I contemplated alabaster for a very short while, decided that some bits I liked, but mostly not. As you say it just looks like so many other things out there and the classic goo has the feel of being slightly out left field.

Well, it sure put h2g2 feedback on top of the busiest forums list. And polarised the Germans at their pub!

Garius, I think Ampton was outside last night at 12 midnight BST. There was a funny glitch that de-registered all the users who were logged on! Then, when we went to our home pages we discovered that we were registered, but that we hadn't found time to write our home pages yet! Babel really freaked. Anyhow, all the messages were in Alabaster, and poor Ampton got dusted somehow.

I'll be back later -- I'm expecting a call.

I don't know what the Germans are saying, only that they just cracked the busiest forum list for the first time. I'm sure they have a lot to say, but if they only speak German they can only say it to each other. All the ones I've met are fluent in English, but that would be the case, wouldn't it.

That reminds me. The POP3 server is down for my ISP. They say they're working on it, but right now I'm not getting any mail, so sorry to anyone who has emailed me since early this morning.

Looney have you heard of or seen the US publication Brill's Content?

The latest gimmick at weddings here in NZ is to receive email messages via cell phone. The best man reads them out. I plead not guilty to subscribing to this peurile practice.

I vaguely remember hearing about Brill's Content in the distant past. Please update me.
