Thanks for the homing beacon, Lil. I'd attach it to my specs if only I could remember where I'd put them .

Witty Moniker Posted Dec 25, 2004
Presents have been opened, stockings emptied, even I had a surprise or two.
Mr. M made french toast for breakfast and we'll probably have leftovers from last night's fish dinner for lunch. Then it's on to my sister's place, a 90 minute drive, where I only have to bring an appetizer. That will be salmon cakes with mushroom sauce.
Tomorrow will be the big preparation day at the Moniker household as we feed and entertain Mr. M's side of the family. Turkey and all the trimmings. I'd was thinking maybe something different would be nice, but I got the turkey for free in a supermarket promotion.

Witty, I still have a certain pic on my hard drive that I could add on your behalf, if you want. Just send a message for me to add to it.

Lil - after getting your mail, I was just now thinking "now what was the address for those cards again"
to the service at this place
*Very full after a nice 1. Christmas Day (that's what it's called here!) dinner of left-over roast duck meat done in a salad with broccoli, orange and thin slices of parmesan, turned with a creamy mustardish dressing. And followed with mandatory Danish xmas-dessert ris a l'amande - you can ask Hati for recipes *

Merry Christmas all!
Our Christmas breakfast was sourdough toast with huckleberry jam, eggs over easy, hash browns and venison sausage. I just finished making the cherry pie for dessert tonight. We're having Cornish game hens, wild rice and Hubbard squash. There are scads of Christmas cookies around the house. I was right on top of the invigorating Christmas Eve stroll someone mentioned! Last night we took a long walk through the forest to a little old log cabin hidden along a creek--it was the original early 20th century post office for the town my mom lives in. The old bins for sorting the mail are still hanging on the wall.
Today we were planning on going skiing, but the weather warmed up overnight and now it's raining. It's nothing but a sloggy slush outside. Oh well, we can probably go for another walk in the woods.
I buy myself Xmas presents while shopping for others, d'E and Affy, so you're not alone. This year I got myself two DVDs (I mentioned them before): The Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep.
Hyp, you are one amazing lady. Kedgeree onward and upward!

Our Christmas dinner traditionally involves blood sausages. Ris a l'amande is by now turning into another tradition in my household.

Hyp, you are indeed an amazing lady.
Have just had a nice day with my family, who are a strange bunch at the best of times. One more day until I can go home, have just shown my sister the wonders of h2g2, and I'm on the verge of convincing her.. but not yet.
Firstly and most importantly my sister and I have just come up with
toe, rib, eye, lip, ear arm leg gut(which is a proper medical term used in textbooks and the like so *has* to count) hip and jaw.

I'm just home after something of a surreal day. I awoke late this morning and checked my voice mail, the only message was from my ex. She invited me over to her family's house for desert after dinner. This used to be a tradition of mine, I would go over to her house to have dinner with her family after my family did their thing.
This is but the second time I have seen my ex in the last 2.5 years. It was good to see her parents, whom I've known for most of my life and have a great deal of respect and affection towards. I talked a bit with L about things, and I invited her to my new years party. It's good to be able to be friends again after a long time of distrust and anger.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.") Posted Dec 26, 2004
I hope things continue with L, as they appear to be, Marv.
The monsters got me a noose aka Neck Tie for Christmas. My mom got me a shirt that goes well with the noose, it was uncoordinated. I also recieved "The day after tomorrow" on DVD from the monsters. This is a good thing as I am really into natural disaster flicks.

Had a fab day yesterday, dinner was a resounding success and everybody liked their prezzies. We finnshed the day with the traditional game of cards we always play that got just as competitive as usual
Have just counted the empties and there are two empty wine bottles per person No wonder my head aches...
Now have to start getting everything ready for the outlaws

Good morning all. Well, I wound up cooking Christmas dinner. Why doesn't this surprise me? My mom has complained for years that Dad never wanted to go out to eat. I think it was her all along. Because she finds a reason not to every time I suggest it.
I got two really neat pressies. A fountain for my back porch that can best be described as 'whimsical' and a glass pannel thingie that fits on my patio door (connecting the dining room to the porch)that has a cat flap built into it. I already have a cat flap from the porch to the yard, so now they'll be able to come and go while I'm at work or elsewhere.

I overate yesterday, but without any bad consequences besides extreme torpidity later in the evening. My turkey came out moist and I had over a gallon of gravy; Cille's dressing and ML's mashed potatoes were wonderful, and the company was good. I was given a copy of Imperial Hubris (political reading for later), a selection of loose teas from my aunt and uncle, and choccies from Cille .
The cats have banqueted on turkey scraps for two days now.
