No that seems to work.
I've just found a sleeping back which means I can go gliding!
We're driving up and staying in a caravan at the airfield tonight and flying tomorrow then I'll go back to my parents tomorrow.

hmm, a while ago it parsed out my fauxHTML... I'll have to play with it again later.

*relaxes in a sofa with a bowl of Häagen-Dazs Baileys*
Phew! My new sofa was delivered today - but when I pointed out that the divan(?) was at the wrong end of the sofa, one of the guys replied 'the factory only constructs them one way - but you can change it yourself pretty easily! Bye!'
And I realized that I hadn't ordered (and paid extra for) getting the new sofa assembled... riiiight...
OK, so he was right - it was pretty easy to see how the two parts of the sofa were to be put together (packed and delivered in two separate packages), after putting legs under them - and it was also pretty easy to see how to remove the armrests and switch them around...
...but it still took me quite some time, quite a lot of turning, tilting, lifting, lowering and generally juggling around various parts of the sofa before getting it the way I wanted it - and had, in fact, ordered it!
And then I went into town to do all that last bit of last-minute panic shopping, and buying train tickets, and...
But now I'm done!

OMG Marv--I forgot all about the fact I once owned a Spirograph and the Playdoh barbershop. Gee, thanks for the Xmas memories!

I loved my spriograph. I wonder if my parents still have it. I shall have to ask them tomorrow.

Some of those toys were around long before the '70s. I had a Spirograph and Twister and I remember that the Rock'em Sock'em robots were quite popular with the boys from my era.
Just goes to show their enduring appeal.

Well, I'm off to bed before an early start to travel to my mother's to spend the Christmas with here (no Internet access) - happy holidays to you all, and take care!

I'm waiting for a lift to the airfield. (and wondering why I've agreed to spend the night in a caravan at the airfield so we can get an earlier start). Then I'll be off to my parents and I won't be online much. Well not that much anyway.
Three whole days away from the salon *wobbles*
Hey It's Christmas!

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC Posted Dec 23, 2004
Merry Christmas to all you who will be away. I'll be at my parents, but they have DSL and a computer that is er than mine, so I'll probably pop in to say hello. And I'll be here for another 24 hours or so anyway.
I am reminded that "ree" was not in my dictionary, and w-m.com required payment to get the definition. So I have a cat with a fine ree, but no idea what that is. Which leads me to another cat update. While I was at work today and my niece was home alone, Zack spent an hour sitting calmly between her and Zeppo.

Fortunately I have access to the command-line interface of the OED through my university account. Ree is a variant of reeve, which is a female ruff, which is collar of feathers or hair (among other things).
So what is a male ruff?

Z Posted Dec 23, 2004
Isn't a ruff a male thing? all the Elizabethian paintings I've seen show men in ruffs.
I'm not sure really.
Where is my lift?

A male ruff is... a ruff.
I think that the out-of-continuity brackets should be incorporated into GuideML. Maybe so that the text shows in courier.
*watches to see what happens to her faux-brackets*

Wow Marv! I remember all too many of those.

House is finally cleaned for Christmas now, the question is: can it stay this way for 1 more day? I have 2 doubts and they are 6 and 7 years old.

, Marv! That link brought back lots of good memories - particularly of happy hours spent playing Subbuteo.
Lil, is there any old paintwork in the Atelier that needs stripping? I've just had a chicken madras in a Bradford curry restaurant, so I could do the job by breathing on it.

I'm off for the holidays as well--I won't be back at work until next year. Har har. I love that old line. I'll be up at my mom's for the next four days. She has a computer, so I can pop in from time to time. Otherwise, everyone have a great Christmas and an even better New Year

Good Grief! Dang, can't say that...not taking grief seriously enough ...might be misconstrued. Shoot, can't say dang....too holier than thou sounding.
Codswallop I say, redpeckhamthegratewithknobson, Codswallop!
It was an amazing service. There is a brief overview in my journal.
I thank you on behalf of Frank and myself for helping to make his sendoff so memorable. He was a lovely man and I am going to miss him desperately. But I am also celebrating his release from illnesss and pain. I am sure he will be looking over my shoulder, whispering in my ear, telling me to get off the damn computer and put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
Now if he could only give me the winning powerball numbers.
I'm totally knackered. The boys have headed back to Texas, and I'm planning to take the phone of the hook and sleep for about 10 or 12 hours.
