Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jul 4, 2007
Ah, the long ago days of putting out one's washing. It's so dusty here, my white sheets would come in brown.

A Mac Mini, eh, Z. My ex-father-in-law has one of those and swears by it (I've seen him standing there, 'ing buggar why won't you do
ing do that for me'
)
Seriously, though, he loves it. He's always preferred Mac.
On slightly different note, do you have any idea when you will find out which hospital you'll be coming to in this little green and pleasent corner of our land?

Humour at work , its very pc where i earn my daily crust so you have to tread carefully . A lot of the pc'ism i agree with but sometimes the powers that be take it a bit far . One colleague is greeted with the palastinian liberation front salute of a clenched fist to the side of the head [ from life of brian ] another colleague greets me with "morning dude" to which i usualy reply "the dude abides man" [ from the big labowski ] Daft but it mildly amuses us to do it .

Sol Posted Jul 5, 2007
My colleague claims 'trainee' implies we are teaching them to jump thopugh hoops, training them like dogs (yeah? And your point is?) whereas teaching is So Much More than that.
I wouldn't mind so much but he hasn't thought it through so all our literature says trainee all over it. I doubt he will notice this until someone points it out. And then he won't get why it's a problem.
It's annoying because, actually, he's not my boss. We are all supposed to take it in turns to run the courses, except I've been doing it for the last 8 months because we've had new people coming in who needed training (him included). I did most of this in the last 8 monthes, which isn't my job, because my boss, whose job it is, was writing a new course for our Chinese branch. I didn't mind this at the time, as I was a bit bored and it was something different.
Now the training includes training them up in the course leader role and, in fact, it's this chap's first management job ever and while I know I should just roll with it and wait for him to get it out of his system he really is trying to manage with a capital M, which is just tedious.
Except that the boss is now back in the building (I put my foot down) so to be honest, I can now wash my hands of the whole thing and just do my little bit of the job and keep my head down again.
Love the powwow pix, fg. The feathered costumes in particular are really spectacular. I think traditional costumes often look a bit twee or cutsey in this day and age, but those ones looked really quite edgy.
Congrats on Blackpool, Z!

Good to hear Mr Johnston has been released, but there are still a load of hostages in various locations around the world whom we should also be thinking about. It also makes me think of the little girl abducted in Portugal.
