Well put. That sums it up for me, too! The people that want a return to those values also want to divest our country of its unwelcome diversity...

Thank you, dear - there's a Simpsons quote for this moment, as with many things... "Me lose brain? Uh-oh..." (uproarious laughter)... "Why I laugh?"

The people who want a "return" to those values have apparently never picked up a history book. I can't believe people think divorce, drug use, pornography and abortion are things the Baby Boomers invented in the 1960s. But there they are...running for President...advising the current President...getting busted for doing meth with a gay male prostitute...

Protoge, (assume the accent), eh? I can't comment on price in your area, but Mazda has made themselves a very good name for endurance and quality. Nicely done, GDZ. smiley - cheers

I wonder how many of those people watched Rome on BBC2/HBO. Plus ça change and all that.

I should avoid going into Oddbins. My housemate wanted to get some lager, and the assistant talked me into spending about five times the cost of the beer on a bottle of whisky. Very nice whisky. Laphoaig Quarter Cask. It's a very strong taste though, perhaps I'll consider adding a drop of water next time.

OK, OK, I know I said I wouldn't buy any camoflaged clothing but I saw a £40 camo jacket in Next reduced half price to £20 so couldn't resist! That worn with the green fleece jacket I just got means I have got £80 of clothes for just £33 which isn't bad!
I also bought some assorted colours piqe shirt for half price in sale too at another shop as my others are looking a little wornout, it seems if you have patience you rarely have to pay full price for clothes these days.

It's hard to get accustomed to a "who's online" list of 2021 people. I still remember being happy to see 39 or 40.

That is a lot of people Lil!
.
I have just remembered I was out yesterday exploring new places within a bicycle ride, I found a lovely area with small lakes which surprisingly wasn't fenced in as a lot are around here, anyway I was going along a small road and saw the front of a coach and thought how did they get down this small road? Anyway I realised it wasn't actually a coach for 30 passengers but the front of a Winibago(sp?). Strewth it was huge! I have no idea what it was doing in a small road in England but the thing was the height of a coach and must have been really expensive.

There you go, Bagpuss. Rome is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

Oh well.

Looks like we're on fire up here. The valley is clogged with forest fire smoke. The air is nasty, nasty, nasty. There are two major blazes 25 miles east of Missoula. People are being evacuated from their homes in the immediate area of the fire. As of today, Montana and Idaho have most of the forest fires in the nation. Check it:

*sigh*

Look at the smoke drifting over the mountains into town:

i'm still almost always in the top 10 if not top 5 of the user list, but i too remember the day when seeing 20-40 people online was like being in the middle of a traffic jam. many times there were fewer than 10 online at the same time as i.

the user names are up to U9236469 now smiley - bigeyes - i wonder how many of them are actually on h2g2 though? it seems rather empty some days, but then again i barely stick my head out of the proverbial door, as it is.

I wonder what happened to all of the fires here in Utah. There were a couple of fairly massive ones lately.
