Oh poo. The last thing my last week's frazzled brain did was put contact details down wrong on a letter I sent out to every primary school in the area trying to set up a placement for the first week of this PGCE I'm doing.
I've just realised so I've been emailing the schools, but now I don't know whether to go for overkill and send a hard copy letter as well.
The stupid thing is that it's the telephone number, which isn't really a good way to contact me anyway. But I figured that if they don't get me, they'd try another way. Instead I have visions of them leaving messages on other peoples' answering machines. Because of course they are all going to be scrambling all over themselves to have me come and watch their classess in September.

"Now, what did you need one teaspoon of again? "
That's just it -- that corner of the recipe card is AWOL!
I *think* it was lemon juice...or maybe lemon or orange *peel*? Argh!! I'll just stick to the orange juice.
This is the recipe I've got (mostly!)
"Strawberry and Rhubarb Compote Makes 4 cups
Serve this over angel food cake or a belgian waffle. Or pancakes. Or french toast. Or just by itself! Yum.
4 to 6 stalks rhubarb, cut into 1/2" slices
(this comes to about 1 lb)
1 pint strawberries, hulled and halved or quarters
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup orange juice
1 tsp ... " [big piece of right corner missing]
(on the back of the card)
"Place cut rhubarb in a large saucepan. Add sugar and juice.
Heat on medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
Add strawberries and cook fruit mixture for 10 minutes or until
[comments partially missing] so it doesn't get too mushy."
FG, that's what I about the salon -- so many of us are Foodies. Mention food and we're off on a culinary adventure!

(KerrAvon, good to see you!) Wouldn't "You Lost" on the back of the Tee be pushing it just a tad?
Amy *offers Hypatia some cookies* "Afraid all that're left are the ones with walnuts and the ones with pecans, so I hope you're not allergic. I'm not, I just don't like them."
Reminds me of the great cookie tin I got for Christmas one year as a White Elephant gift, with broken bits of cookies inside, and this on the lid! "Our Family went through all our cookies and these are the ones we didn't like." Believe it or not, it wasn't the rudest office party gift that year...

Woohoo indeed for the return of the passport.
And Kerr. Please please tell us your neighbours have been beamed up somewhere unpleasant.

*cough*
Well, I definitely have Lurgy. It's a chesty Lurgy which I am beating up with Beechams All-in-One syrup. Brilliant stuff. Tastes foul, but always does the trick.
Anyway, this Lurgy means I probably won't be LARPing this weekend. While it's not severe enough to prevent my from dressing up and playing under *normal* circumstances the weather report for the area we LARP in is "rainy, really rainy. It's going to rain for three days. There'll be occasional bits of sunshine but that'll do nothing more than make it all humid and unpleasant." so unless either myself or the weather makes a miraculous recovery by about 2pm we'll be staying at home. But hey, as much as I'd like to see my friends I'd like to remain free of a full-blown chest infection just before my hols even more.

Sounds like a good plan Mr D. You don't want to be even more lurgyfied on your holiday.
Sol, I'm sure you'll have no problem with finding a school to watch/help and so on.
Well we did go for a late walk last night. Only it was too late for and daytime type wildlife and too early for the later twilight things. About the most we saw was lots of wee biting beasties (and yes we were bit). Still we did have to pass the local pub on the way home and I did need to warm up a little

Hello, I'm afraid you've really come to the wrong place if you want vacuuous ASL 'chat'. The Salon (much like a lot of h2g2 in fact) is a place for conversation.
However, you are free to catch up with the current topics of conversation and see if you can contribute anything.
