Morning all.

'morning, GDZ. And welcome to scorpio_witch. And very good to see you, PWM.
We had a lovely clear evening yesterday, we saw the space shuttle chase the international space station across the sky!

Posting from home again. I'm happy to announce that my computer was seriously ill but not terminal. It took hours and hours to get it running again, but as you can see, we were successful. I was issued a dire warning that it is not at all a well computer, won't last forever and I should start putting money into a new computer fund. But hey! It's working! I'm as happy as a possum eating s*it.
I am green over Mr. D and Beatrice's Scottish holidays. The closest thing to a summer vacation I'll be having is a weekend jaunt next month to the wilds of western Oklahoma. Will be great fun, even if it isn't Scotland.
Also, I want to give Mol an invisible and a . And check to see if Amy left me any of Ag's cookies. I like cookies too much. Had some warm chocolate chip cookies (yes, cookies plural) last night when my puter guy was here. Hadn't baked any for months. Boy did they taste goooooooood. And I had to keep him working. He is a chocoholic. Much worse about chocolate than I am.
Sol, I'm glad you're more rested. Just last night I was talking about how much fun your Russian dinner party was....and how delicious!
Phil, hope you manage your walk this evening. I wish there was someplace interesting around my house to walk.
Isn't arugula the bitter one? It isn't easily obtained in the markets in Little DooDah. I do like watercress. That's dashed difficult to locate, too.
WA, it is my who gets me up every morning. HRH Minerva. She has a very precise tummy clock. Sits on my stomach or head and plants wet kisses all over my face until I get up.
I've forgotten people packing, people recovering, people answering silly questions from tourists and heaven knows what else.
First day of summer! WooHoo! Some summer I'm going to visit Ti or Hati and stay up all night just to watch the sky ~not~ get dark. We have about 15.5 hours of daylight here in the summer. Maybe a little more today.

It's going to be a good two weeks.

Excellent, excellent obviously taught by a very upper class Jock, lovely timbre to the accent. Now try Dinnafaffyegratewallyoryerlgeasmackedspadger.

How was that?
Now, very important current event to remember in case I encounter some of the more rabid locals...
NTS staging a Bannockburn re-enactment at Bannockburn on the actual anniversary of Bannockburn and thus stopping the SNP holding a rally there is a disgrace though it doesn't really matter as the re-enactors don't wear tartan which means they're not doing it properly.

I'm sorry to ignore your initial food question, SC. Anytime someone mentions food here it triggers all kinds of recollections, demands, opinions and musings. Now, what did you need one teaspoon of again?

Calling on many years experience as an Englishman in Scotland I'd advise a low profile. The natives get rather tired and emotional at these times. Alternatively you can borrow my 'Remember Culloden' tee shirt as a special favour.

Not sure about the tartan aspect of Bannockburn. There wouldn't have been any tartan as we know it around in 1314.

That's the thing... I know that, you know that, the re-enactors know that. But the loons who think Braveheart was a documentary? Apparently it's quite common for the Scottish forces to be heckled by idiot MOPs (Members Of the Public) for not wearing tartan and kilts

Well, as a fellow Celt I usually find the welcome from Scots very hearty!
But as a Campbell there's still some parts of Scotland that I'm not allowed to go into.

Apparently the Clachaig Inn in Glencoe still has a sign on the door saying "No Campbells".

Oh, there's a Glencoe in Scotland? I thought there was just the one, here in Lincoln County, named after the Coe brothers who settled there.

Afraid all that're left are the ones with walnuts and the ones with pecans, so I hope you're not allergic. I'm not, I just don't like them.

One side of my family was ahem *removed* from Scotland in the 16th century for being too violent. Which says something about my ancestors, I think, and none of it good. Of course, my family has a long history of being on the wrong sides of things. We were, of course, supporters of Owen Glendower (Glyndwr) in Wales, and other various rebellions. We seemed to have done an excellent job of pissing off the English at every opportunity.
Key: Complain about this post
