Glad spud behaved kelli - does this mean you're getting a chance to read a bit. I do think one of the most amazing things about children must be getting them to learn things and watching their psychological development.
I was trying to convince one of my colleagues to raise his offspring to speak Klingon. But he didn't speak Klingon.
I've got an interview for South Africa on Tuesday - and Scotland are doing their last interviews on Wednesday the 9th - and may start making offers after that but I doubt it.
I could always emigrate by moving to Scotland and then voting for Independence in the referendum in 3 years time. That would work.

Z, once my close friends start having wee ones of their own and calling upon me to babysit, I have every intention of teaching them things their parents won't. I'll have the little darlings singing the hits of Rodgers and Hammerstein before they can walk... Several couples have threatened to have me as godparent to their offspring - I wonder if they realise the consequences?!

More Meet photos, courtesy of Scrumph. The captions are All My Fault. Sorry. No gin was involved, I promise. (Quite amusing when viewed as a slide-show, though).

Think I could ID a couple of the unknown plants, though may be totally incorrect.
Working away, just had dinner to make sure I won't faint of hunger in church tomorrow....

*Curtsies*
I am impressed and delighted that Spud knew to be quiet in the library. Could we hire him for a few days to demonstrate to the ADULT students at Glum what exactly we mean by being quiet?
S is watching the snooker, so I too am watching the snooker, and getting all excited and involved, against my will, against my reason, and even against my character.
Very irritating.
And Mark Selby is making me feel Old and an Underachiever. Bah. After all, today's achievements include buying two tubes of face-cream because I couldn't decide which one I preferred, and going for a walk. Also, not going round to the neighbours and putting sarcastic and impolite notes through the letter-box re: their jolly debauched session of whooping and loud music at quarter to three last night, and my resultant decampment to the spare room with four pillows, two to put over my head, at three fifteen, with resultant very stiff back bought on by sheer spasm of rage when I realised they were going to play disco hits from the 80s.
I hope they all feel like absolute hell today. I hope they feel like absolute hell until Tuesday morning, to be frank.

And here are my pictures of Kew; I borrowed the mammoths' flickr account, which was nice of it. I think I'm getting into photography. Oh dear, another expensive hobby.

Ag - I simply *loved* the captions - mine aren't nearly as witty.
Impressed...

GD asked about delivery times in the U.S. not that long ago during the mail discussion. Within my state, Montana, it's usually next day delivery. Being one of the largest states size-wise (though near dead last in population) occasionally it takes a letter two days to get from one end to the other, a distance of 500 to 600 miles. From what I remember of California, it's next day within the northern half or the southern half, but two days to go south to north or vice versa. Correct, MR?
Marvelous commentary, Ag! The cormorant reminded me of one of my dad's stories. He was a skin diver in the 50s and 60s, and he was on a team of like-minded souls who would compete in diving contests up and down the California coast. They named their team "The Cormorants". One summer The Cormorants turned up for a competition in a small town near the Mexican border. A reporter from the local small-town newspaper showed up to cover what was the biggest thing to happen there since the end of the Mexican-American War, and, of course, misheard the name of their team. Upon opening the paper the next day, my father and his friends found out that "The Pomegranates" came in second.

When I was working in Sacramento, we'd tell clients (California-based only--cities, water departments, and such) to allow about a week for the mail. Now that I live in a tiny town, it can take a few days for mail to get across town, or to the town 20 miles away--because it usually goes first to Eureka, which is 90 miles away. Though there are times regular mail does arrive the next day.
Hm, maybe MR and I should conduct an experiment... I'm 19 miles from Oregon. How far south are you, MR?

Very tired this morning. was looking after a 4 month old baby all day yesterday then went straight to a jazz event run by my christian union. i didnt get home untill 11.15 and I have to get up early for church.
was a good night though.
When the parents got home from work yesterday I handed the their lovely baby back who had just been fed. I hadnt winded her because I had had t answer the door first to mum. I thought I would let her win her as she had already thrown up on me once!
i got my stuff together - baby looked at me, saw me about to leave and screamed and reached out to me. I felt really bad! mum had just got home and was givingher a cuddle and she was crying because I was leaving!
I think the parents may have me back as she obviously enjoyed beingwith me!

Liked the captions, Ag Very much liked the picture of Titania, Hati
Off to do artistic acts of painting the barge boards (according to my dictionary) on the house. Helped a bit by a new ladder that hangs off the top of the roof so I won't have to climb too much up and down steep slippery aaaaaargghhhhs...

Loved the photos and captions, Ag, but feel obliged to point out that the 'moorhens' are actually coots. Moorhens have a red thingy on their head, while coots have a white thingy. The're less scary than moorhens as well. I did say 'ah', though.

They can't possibly be called 'coots'. The word 'coot' is too cute. The picture is so cute already, if I call them 'coots' anyone looking at it will be overwhelmed by the need to kick puppies until equilibrium is restored.
