Sounds fine to me. I would even have a shower before...once a month normally. I'll look out for the next near me.
Overseas visitors. Amazing. Must be great to meet say Titania.

The meets really are great. Odd, scary, nerve-wracking but great. I have made some real long-term real-life friends on this site.

Gadzooks! *clinging to a sofa and a teacup* We're back to this, are we?
The meet must have been great, and, like the others, I envy the Brits at being at the epicenter of meetings.
Oetzi! Digibox users as trailer park trash?? How ~dare~ you attribute such an idea to me! It's about proper use of English at the atelier. Not income. Proper english, not lifestyle, politics, class, gender, race, or equipment. Proper English, Oetzi! Read my lips!
logicus has also made this allegation, so far as I can understand what he says. You think that my insistence on manners and full sentences is elitist??? Gordon Bennett!
Oetzi, you so admire Titania -- please take note that she is a native Swedish speaker, yet she manages to post far better english than you.
You take great delight in winding people up, though, don't both of you. Who decided that was an OK thing to do? It's perilously close to what's called trolling, you know.
Until the last couple of conversations, we averaged about a thousand posts over three weeks. Now we have nearly double the number of posts in two thirds of the time. Which we have to work to read on account of these relentless server problems. And are we having more substantive discussions in all this extra bandwidth?

Lil, we'll have to do an impromptu meet somewhere in NM or TX soon. That way we won't feel quite so left out.

for Lil.
You know, the whole point of posting here is to communicate with the others here. If your posts are partially or wholly incomprehensible, you obviously fail at that goal. Oetzi, I understand about 80% of your posts. Not bad, but you're still failing 20% of the time. logicus, I understand 0% of your posts. Mainly because I skip them due to their poor use of the language and punctuation. I don't have the time for decoding them. If I can't be bothered trying to decypher your gibberish, you can bet there are others who can't be bothered either. So, then, what purpose is it serving?

Oh! And I thought I don't understand some postings because I don't understand English that well as most of you.

For those that want to suffer them again and play the game of "who the hell is that"
I've put my meet photos up at http://www.bcsweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/h2g2/winter04.html
I've also included a large version of the atelier group photo.

Tracky and I are invaluable foils for your relentless eloquence. Everyperson likes a "bit of rough" now and again. Our time and effort is valuable. You might not appreciate it but others do.
I understand every post of tracks. If you lot can't, then you must have zero imagination. Indeed you might even be insensitive.
This is not your personal site. It belongs to the BBC. If you do not like that, or want something different then move to MSN.

Mine are going to take a while to get up. I am going to have to send my 3.99 Tescos Basics camera to Trueprint, and wait for them to send the pics back on CD.
I think there are a number of reasons for the increased activity in the Atelier - one is Christmas, but the other is the activitiy. Rather than bookmarking we were replying, which gave more to read and reply to. A self-feeding spiral. For that reason I have started bookmarking more and posting less.

Oh no not again....
(One of the things that I discovered at the meet is that some researchers are scared of me. I guess I haven't let loose with the full force of my arguments here in the Atelier out of respect for Lil. Lil - if you want me to back off at any time, then just say the word).

Er, actually, according to the BBC employees who run this site, this section of the site IS Lil's personal site. So long as she acts within the BBCs terms and conditions, she is entitled to create, maintain and enforce her own local by-laws.
When in Rome, do as the Romans. Each of us modifies our behaviour according to the circumstances, and behaves differently at - for example - a football match, a funeral, in a job interview, with close friends, and with people who we have never met before.
Not only is Lil entitled to create and enforce local by-laws. She has the explicit endorsement of the BBC in doing so. We are her guests here, it is up to us to follow her house-rules.

Name the staff abcd and we'll progress.

Oetzei, I assume you are addressing me when you type "abcd". My name is "abcB" or "Ben".
What do you mean by 'Personal Agenda'? I want to understand *exactly* what you mean before I answer the question.
I am - obviously - only able to report what was said to me by the BBC employees. I am not able to attribute words I did not hear on subjects we did not discuss.

Above and beyond the fact that the Italics have given Lil their (much deserved) blessings, most everyone here has worked over the years to set up the netiquette and conventions used here at the Atelier. We've all agreed to a certain code of behaviours and ethics that have made this into - I believe - one of the longest lived groups at H2G2. We are like-minded in our consideration for one another if not in our ideals and that is what makes the Atelier so special. By not requesting that everyone live up to these ideals, we in fact damage the Atelier and all it stands for. Therefore, in my mind at least, it is necessary for certain guidelines to be put forth and followed.
Or I could just be suffering from a lack of sleep again.
Ben, I agree with your reasoning for the marked upsurgence in numbers of posts here. The circle will continue going, though, I think. Its nice to see everything folks have to say, but boy does that blog take a while to wade through in the morning!

Incidentally, I am about to organise some food and watch some crap-tv, so Oetzi, please don't be offended if I don't respond swiftly to your post. I will be leading my real life for a while.

A personal agenda is a polite way of saying "the tail is wagging the dog" or a public sevice is serving the employees and or a select group rather than the mandate requirement incumbent of the corporation.
In short that employee is in breach of contract.
