6.6, but H did all the conversions from Imperial into metric and as the evening is getting on, his calculations may have been a little out.
I get quite fidgety if I go too long without seeing the sea. The smell of ozone, the waves and the 99 ice cream cones does wonders for my equilibrium.

*shocked that there are people who have never seen the sea* and for Gw7en.
Actually, it is hard to say how shocking I find that. I have been over it, next to it, near to it, on it, and in it, for as long as I can remember.
As Z says, it's odd how shocking that is to UKians.

I have only seen the Pacif Ocean a few times. Been swimming in it a bit, never out on the open sea however. I would think that your proximity to the Gulf would be shuch that you can visit it fairly easily now, G.

Caer I love the sea and boats. I had a close call off Corfu once and have snapped a few propellor shafts on lake Windermere in The Lake District of the UK. My wife is not keen.
My son however is fearless. I hope he listens. He can swim at least.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.") Posted Dec 22, 2003
I have been on the Pacific coast on numerous occasions tho not at all in the last 9 years. I have also been on the Atlantic coast of Norway about 5 years ago.
On a sad note, my kids leave this evening to go spend some time with their mom. I believe that both parents need to spend time with the kids but, it is hard seeing them go, especially after 3 days of having them. On a happier note, they will be back on friday!

Where are all the people who are ?
I mean, here I am, in my living room, on IM with Z, listening to the Stepson on his PS2, drinking Rum and Coke, (thanks Z), and typing away.
So........ if you are where are you?

There seems to be some kind of inconsistency in that quiz - 16.1 (average 6.7) and 8.9
I don't own a car, I travel by commuter train or walk, I don't fly much - but a lot of the food I eat has been imported. How else would Swedes be able to eat fresh fruit and vegetables all year? In this climate, we just can't grow them ourselves, not enought to last all year... so why is my result so much higher than the average in my area? Oh, and I'm a carnivore...
Ferries - been travelling that way more times than I can remember, growing up in Sweden with Finnish parents. Ferry is still the cheapest way to travel between the two countries, and we used to do that a lot when I was a kid, what with having most relatives in Finland, and the craving for Finnish food (nowadays available in Swedish supermarkets). I still visit Finland once or twice each year. Oh - and all the ferries of the two biggest shipping companies have icebreaking capacity.

Some of the Salonistas left (not been doing your backlog homework, Ben?) in the previous thread to get a Goo spruce for Christmas...

Are the not heres getting the goo Spruce?
I love the Sea. I don't get to it enough, and doubt I shall get a chance over the Holiday
Still I'm not that far from the West coast of Scotland. The bits we visit up here seem fairly quiet. I'm used to the Solent with proper waves, though it gets strange tides due to the Isle of Wight.

Oetzi, you've been to Corfu? Which part? I lived and worked there for a bit short of a year.
Just finished up my final printing of Christmas cards for a customer. Well, New Year's cards, actually. And I found an inquiry about my cards from an online customer who appears to be in Nevada.
And we've had snow flurries off and on this afternoon, with brooding clouds, looming enough to make me hide my car in the garage. I can stay in all day tomorrow, with luck.

The police boat warned me to return but....

I grew up next to the North Pacific and spent a bit of time out in Hawaii on Oahu. So, I've been on, above, under (if you count the Bay Area Rapid Transit System, i.e. BART, whose trains go under the San Francisco Bay from Oakland to San Francisco) and in the ocean. I love it, and would move back to the coast in a heartbeat. Though not California. Maybe Washington State or Oregon, even British Columbia.
