>>He's reputed to be handsy.

I have heard he can be a bit, er, "hands on," with some of his female staffers. After all, he *was* Bill Clinton's Secretary of Energy. What I probably should have said was that I'm a fan of Richardson's policies.

I have not heard that he's actually harassed anyone, or used his Highway Patrol to get dates like Bill did. My impression is that it's more along the lines of hugs that take a bit longer than necessary, employed when they're a tad unprofessional in the first place. Also, lingering eyes.

All I've heard is anecdotal, though. So I don't know how concerned I should be.

I would be very pleased with an Obama/Clinton ticket. And I think it's inevitable too.

I'm afraid I buy Jimmy Carter's argument that this would only amplify the negatives of both Obama and Clinton. Besides, the two of them really don't seem to get along.

I'm not sure how I feel about an Obama/Clinton ticket. I'll have to think about that for a bit.

I chatted with my classmate today about Richardson. I didn't learn much, and even at that, I was sworn to secrecy. Let's just say some people consider him to be quirky. And no mention was made in the 'handsy' area.

They don't have to get along, this is politics. Anyway, I think there's a lot a bad press about their relationship, and I'm using "bad" to qualify the reporting *not* the relationship. "They don't like each other" is a good story, but from what I've seen there's no real animosity, just the usual political campaigning that we typically see between opponents. They're *supposed* to say bad things about each other. Remember where "voodoo economics" came from?

I'm just worried that the folks who supported Obama more because they dislike Clinton than that they like him will bail out if she is on the ticket. Of course there may be more anti-Clinton sentiment in my part of the contry, therefore skewering my perception of the situation.

To me, the ideal running mate for Obama will be someone who doesn't draw constant fire. The 2004 campaign was a constant CYA fiasco. We don't need that again. There will be alot of it because that's about all the GOP has to offer. If they stick to policy issues, they're sunk. Although given my age and political activities from an early age, a black man and white woman running together is a dream come true. The nation has come a long way, baby.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

What I am most afraid of if Hillary is on the ticket is the inevitable "This is Bill's third term" arguments.

GDZ, Bill is apparently a big sticking point, from what I've read. Traditionally, VP candidates should not overshadow the presidential candidate. An Obama/Clinton ticket would make it very difficult for Obama to shine with two Clintons around.

By the way, I'm voting Chelsea Clinton in 2016 smiley - winkeye

On the subject of Clinton helping Obama, Maureen Dowd's column today in the NY Times is worth a read.

All of my favorite political news sources are currently covering the death of Tim Russert: http://politicalwire.com/archives/2008/06/13/russert_is_dead.html

This story is not, strictly speaking, political, but the man was a very well known political journalist, and it seems that the journalistic and political communities are taking this very much to heart.

He was only 58.

I know my mom's pretty upset. Meet the Press has been part of her Sunday morning routine since, oh, about forever.

Quoting a piece in the Swedish news:

'Carly Fiorina, who has been called one of the most powerful women in the US, is John McCain's weapon for luring over disappointed Hillary Clinton supporters to the republicans.'

Eh - who?smiley - huh I had never come across her name until reading this - who is she?

She is a former technology industry executive who, having failed in that arena, is now getting into policy:

There was a clip of reactions to the Clinton defeat shown on this side of the pond a week or so ago where one Clinton suporter was saying that she was now going to vote fopr McCain rather than Obama, which I found a bit shocking.

Several have claimed that. I doubt it's going to happen, though. I think many people are upset, but by the time November rolls around, is a Clinton supporter really going to vote for someone who is so terrible on Women's issues like equal pay, sexual harassment, and reproductive choice? I doubt it.
