<<"Well...", said the pirate, "..it was my first day with the hook.">>
Shouldn't that be "*me* first day with the hook, arrrrgh"?

If any of you feel the need for some real pirate type stuff then I heartily recomend the double CD 'Rogues Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys' It works, taking proper old printed texts and getting artists to arrange and sing then, some in a traditional way, others not so.

A mammoth lumbers by and drops a large piece of paper on which the words: [Woolly Mammoth] are carefully scrawled.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Sep 20, 2006
*Looks at the backlog. Pretends it's not there.*
Well, I would've posted earlier were it not for the combination of my home PC slipping into a coma (hoping it's the PSU, because replacing that will be a heck of a lot cheaper than replacing the motherboard) and me having Bad Lurgy... in fact I still have Bad Lurgy but it's not as bad as it was yesterday and Monday hence why I'm at w*rk.
I've learned a very valuable lesson... spending a weekend inadequately dressed at a cold and damp campsite makes minor sniffles into Bad Lurgy.
Didn't participate much in Talk Like a Pirate Day (I know, I know, I'm letting the side down) but I did finally start reading Under The Black Flag which is a book on the 'golden age' of Piracy which I bought ages ago and then put on the shelf.
Cough, splutter, sniff.

Thank goodness that the sun is shining today - yesterday the weather was way too depressing, with clouds so dark that the streetlights were turned on already at 5.30 pm - and on top of that it started pouring down while I was walking home from the bus stop (10 minute-walk)
Matina, I'll have a Mimosa please!

Morning all, sounds like a lot of rain here this morning.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Sep 20, 2006
Afternoon all
Am in the office today - only came in at lunchtime as I knew there were things that had to be done before I go on holiday. I find, now that I'm here, that we have an unexpected desk move thrust upon us, and because I was out yesterday I have the crappiest of all the crappy desks. Right by the kitchen and with my screen facing the door in and out. Basically, everyone coming in can easily see what I'm doing and will mostly all have to walk by my desk. It'll be noisy too. I'm totally gutted. As I get bigger and bigger, and look more and more ungainly my backside is going to be the first thing that people see when they come in the door. I was miserable anyway, this has just about finished me off.
On the positive side, we've had our first quote back from the four builders we've had round and it is on budget Until this came back I hadn't realised how worried I was that it was going to be more than we'd thought and would therefore require us to scale the plans right back. Phew.

Is the desk standing against a wall, Kelli? Is there room for it to be turned the other way around so that *you* face the door instead?

That sucks, Kelli. You need a rear-view mirror for your computer screen so that when you see someone coming up behind you you can flip your screen to one that says "Whatchu lookin' at buddy?" (Preferably with a nice Bronx accent)

Nope - open plan offices! Suppose will have to permanently hang something over the back of my chair to obscure my bum, but it does mean that today will probably be the last day I can use the internet at work, even on my lunch break
Plus anyone could sneak up on me there! I am *very* pissed off about this!

You may be able to get a privacy screen for your display. Might not hurt to look in to it.

What is a privacy screen?
88Xth Conversation at Lil's
SE Posted Sep 20, 2006
they're filters you put over your screen so that only the person sitting directly in front of the monitor (not standing above it or walking along the side, etc.) can actually see the screen's contents
