Welcome 0 to the salon.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes.
I am getting ready to go to my sister's restaurant for breakfast with my family. This will be somewaht painfull with the hangover raging through my head. I went to the GDZ's little brother's bachelor party last night, and it was quite the affair.

Whatever you end up in Z, I hope you enjoy it Have you been round the diabetes/endocrinology departments yet? hmmm that reminds me I should be getting a letter from the hospital about seeing them again for a check up.
We went out to the country show/sheepdog trials near here today. The work of the dogs and handlers was superb, then again todays trial was for the Champion of The Peak, the best of the best of the various local trials. Looked like it was a hard course especially when the sheep were getting skitty by the end of the afternoon. Other things seen there were some heavy horses, a falconry display and duck herding!

Happy birthday, Marv! <--- a pair of boots that look 3 sizes smaller than they are
O, as hostess, I officially welcome you to the atelier. I like to think we're notable for the wide range of substantive discussions that go on here, as well as our positively Victorian sense of etiquette. Not to mention the streak of surreality and RPG. I hope you find it a convivial place!
So in England the NHS itself indemnifies medical practitioner against malpractise suits? We certainly need something like that. Or maybe just anti-insurance. Knowing that nothing will get done under the current administration, I suppose I'll just dream of a superhero. Actuary Man? PAC Destroyer? Suggestions welcome.
O, I particularly recommend the mbougatses. Matina bakes them fresh most days.

Well yes, NHS ideminity only applies to s working in NHS hospitials, not GPs, but they tend not to get sued as much.
What disgusts me is that people who are disabled through medical mistakes should be able to get more money, so that they can live better than those who are disabled through misfortune. The Welfare state ourght to provide a decent standard of living for both, that's what they've paid their taxes for after all. It's all getting far too American.
D'E (and the difference is on Sundays in Stornoway is that you can't buy alcohol, or work, or do much apart from go to church)

Phil - no I haven't yet, but I have been a patient with endocrinologists and it seems good fun. Diabetes is after trauma.
BTw if you haven't heard yet, it might be worth giving your consultants secretrary a ring, letters can get lost in the post.

Again thanks, everyone, for the wishes.
Just got home from having breakfast with the parents. My mother gave me a frog shaped poofy shower gel scrubber thingy. I have no idea what it is really called. My sister gave me a copy of the Lord of the Rings, in a single volume. While I am quite happy to have another copy, it is the exact same edition that I allready own. So this means that I can give my old copy to my mother.
I am trying to decide if I should regale you lot with stories of the bachelor party last night, or not. I should wait for GDZ to get about to ask his opinion.

I have a bit of free time just now, so I looked about the guide. I went to the info page and noticed a conversation called USA!USA! (for the record, I hate that particular chant and wish it would go away). I visited this conversation, and it is one of the more vehement trashings of USian culture I have read in a while. Times like this, I am reminded that I am hated due to my nationality. That always depresses me. I shan't comment in that thread, as it will just become another "What's wrong with AAmericans?" blow up.

Marv, there are people predjuiced against every nation on earth, we are all hated due to our nationality at times..
It's still immature and horrible..

I despise the short-sighted robber barons running the gummint and wish nationalism would hurry up and become obsolete. But I wish that chauvinistic name-calling would stop, too. *sigh*

I've written about my adventure in LaLa Land in my journal. The shower was great, and she loved the quilt.
