Don't panic Z- I once completely forgot to turn up to work, and the only excuse I had was that I thought it was a Bank Holiday.

Which has suddenly made me think: why is it whenever there's something on UK telly about male-to-female transsexuals they always only manage to find ones that look like they'd previously been brickies and now look like Ann Widdicome on a bad day?

I once turned up to school on a Bank Holiday because I'd forgotten that it was.

Probably becasue transsexals who pass don't want to go on TV and let all their neighbours know about the pass that they've kept hidden.
If it's patently obvious to all your neighbours and colleagues then I would guess that it's there's no reason why you shouldn't grab your 15 minutes of fame.

Fair enough... It's just something I find quite odd as TV shows from other countries usually feature transsexuals who you really can't tell one way or t'other without being told.

Mrs Zen Posted Feb 9, 2006
Maybe the key words there are "from other countries" - if you are trans, you might be willing to be out abroad.

Good story, although it sounds like there was a severe entropy collapse in progress...

While I'm thinking about it: did any of the UK Salonistas see Take One Museum on Tuesday... I'm looking at Z in particular as it featured the museum at the Royal College of Surgeons (and was therefore full of interesting old medical stuff... including a clockwork saw!).

Harrison Ford is a bit taller than Bob the Landscaper, but it's a good match. How about Kathy Bates for Smellfungus? It's a shame that Divine died, or he could play Sexy Angel.
There is no chance at all of heat in the library until afternoon. Were there a lot of mechanical problems in Twin Peaks? It sounds like I should have made an effort to watch it.
We have one woman who comes in who appears to be doing a male to female switch. But maybe not. She has lovely long painted fingernails on large, masculine appearing hands. And a very deep voice. But she is also bald as a billiard ball. She wouldn't be shaving her head if she was doing a sex change, would she? So perhaps it is from chemo and that has also lowered her voice. Sometimes she wears a turban. She could be genetically bald if she's really a man. I don't know her well enough to pry into her circumstances. Unlike a lot of people she hasn't volunteered her life story. Her clothes are very unisex - jeans and tees and sweatshirts and athletic shoes.

Adam's apple?
If there's shaving going on, then unless it's done every day you'd have evidence of stuble pretty damn quick.
Or maybe s/he's just a perfectly standard Odd Person.

Witty Moniker Posted Feb 9, 2006
Might be a case of alopecia.
I saw Harvey Fierstein do the Divine role in Hairspray on Broadway. I'm sure he could do Sexy Angel. Odd though, I had a mental image of her as petite and thin.
Lil, our rental is two doors down, so I will be on site everyday. I plan to check in before and after work and the project manager is on my speed dial. We've been teasing the neighbor in between that now he will get to see the 'other side' of the Monikers.

i started watching twin peaks long after it was cancelled, on showing on Bravo. speak for yourselves, but for me 'the log lady' made the show and as for DVD, i don't know about overseas, but here in the US only season one is available on DVD - and there are no plans on re-releasing the original pilot (which set the whole story and mood) or the additional season - all we have is the single season and fire walk within me.
the show had such a quiet, unsettling menace - even now, i keep putting off rewatching season one (which i do have on DVD) because it never feels like the right time...

If you want a *really* creepy series, track down Riget, the original Danish version of The Kingdom, which bloody Stephen King remade as Kingdom Hospital, and turned a genuinely nasty, creepy show in to utter tat.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kingdom_(television) is about the original.

Wow, didn't know Riget was known outside the Scandinavian countries! I thoroughly disliked the neurosurgeon Stig Helmer played by Ernst-Hugo Järegård; a Swedish actor who was *very* good at playing creepy characters...

Err, probably only by strange little s. Lillebror creeped me out for ages. I'd get 'image flashes' of him at the most inappropriate times.
