OK, due to an item disappearing into thin air from my Entropia inventory, I'm currently a bit miffed at (with) MA (the company behind the game) - until I get a decent reply from their support section, I'm taking a break.
Saying 'you sold it to the trade terminal' isn't an acceptable answer since I *know* I didn't do that.
'The first virtual universe - with a real cash economy' - hmph! Yeah, that means I lost some RL money when that item vanished! Only a small sum - this time - but as I wrote in the support case letter, who says it can't happen again? Since I'm currently holding a shop deed on behalf of my society (worth at least 300 USD) I'm taking this very seriously, believe me.
So... while waiting for MA's support to come up with a compensation, I suddenly find myself with an expected amount of free time!
I went out and bought WoW, and was going to check out the h2g2 Wow group - but the entry has been deleted...
Anyway, I'm looking for a mentor - I don't know if there is any mentoring system in WoW as there is in Entropia, but I've never had enough patience to plow through game manuals so I'd appreciate any advice I can get.
I'm thinking of creating a Night Elf (duh - guess why?) Druid (because of the shapeshifting) or Hunter (because of the pet). Any disadvantages these choices might have?
I'll probably be online ingame between 1800-2000 hrs GMT/UTC during weekdays (you can see the current GMT/UTC time on this site: http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_WF.aspx ) and a bit more flexible hours during weekends.
One specific question I have already is about someething in the game manual:
"When choosing a race, remember that you can only interact meaningfully with members of your own faction. When dealing with races of the opposite faction, your interaction options are much more limited, and sometimes, hostile. If you wish to play with your friends, you should choose races on the same side."
So if I were to pick a Night Elf, is there any Salonista WoW player/s that I wouldn't be able to interact with in a friendly manner?

Is that where you've been all this time, in Entropia?

Except for one week when I went back to the same place I visited last summer; Badgastein in the Austrian Alps (with no Internet access at all), yes - I have spent the majority of my spare time in Entropia.
On the days when my tummy was so upset that I had to stay home from w*rk, I tried watching day-time TV (in Sweden, mostly consisting of cheap American soap operas ) but that was too mind-numbing...
...and the people in my Entropian society are a really nice bunch, we've done a lot of fun things together - in 'real time'. I can now better understand Caer's fascination with SWG.
The charm with 'instant' communication has proven to be more irresistable than I could have imagined - and my soc mates have flattered my ego no end by putting a lot of trust on me - or my avatar, rather.
I'm not sure what it is that makes people trust me, ingame as well as in RL, since all the things I've told about myself online could be a bunch of lies (not that they are).
OK, in RL I can understand, since people can see my (obviously) harmless appearance with their own eyes - but online?
I'm currently struggling to catch up with the backlog in the latest Atelier thread, and I'll get there, eventually - and after that, there's the backlog of the previous thread to catch up with - judging from Wilma's excellent notes, there are things I really wouldn't want to miss out on...

i play mostly horde nowadays - although i still have my 49 alt mage that is a gnome on a different server. most servers are skewed population wise, with either a majority on the alliance side, or the majority on the horde side. i think it's safe to say that over-all most wow servers are alliance heavy, so i would of course recommend horde
of course, if you do roll horde and want to play a druid, your only option is tauren. if you want a hunter, the possibilities for race opens wide up, however orcs make (argueably) the best hunters.
i wouldn't be playing in your time (as that is about now, i think, which is ~2pm-4pm est) and i really don't know how else would be. wow is very easy to pick up though.

A bit over 2 hours to install and download all the patches - this had better be worth the wait...
OK, I'm confused - I managed to get a quest, some lady I'm supposed to find to the SW - but my avatar has been killed 4 times already just trying to have a look around - in the game intro, it sounded as if the beginning would be oh so easy for new players?
Duh - I think I need a 'beginner's walkthrough of WoW' or something...

Titania, you can look up quests at thottbot.com to see how to do some of them. I am with Sporky. I only play horde. I've a 60 Rogue as a main and some low level alts.

That’s on account of Fords (who set up the group) being one of many Researchers who have stormed off h2g2 in a huff.

I’m mostly to be found on Earthen Ring (when I have time to play that is) as either Daelric (Human Paladin, Male) or Kiira (Dwarf Hunter, Female) so interaction wouldn't be a problem there. I’ve had the game six months now and I still haven’t got to 20th level, whereas people I know who’ve had the game only a short time are already at 40th. They say it’s sad, I say it means I have a social life.

Thanks for the quest link, Marv
I had a closer look at the game I bought, and it says I can play on European servers only...
Earthen Ring, eh? I'll remember that, once I've perfected my navigation skills

The thing to be wary of though is that Earthen Ring is a very busy server so there are sometimes looooooong queues to get into the game proper.

Moonglade is a quieter RP/PVE server and I wouldn't suggest moving out of the second area until you are around lvl 10.
I have characters on Argent Dawn and Steamwheedle Cartel, but both serves are getting very busy. I don't play WoW in the evenings though, otherwise I would offer to create a char and help you get started.

actually, you can play on us or eu realms - it's a very simple, silly fix -

Aw, man. I've just wasted a lot of the previous few weeks playing Fable on a borrowed X-Box. Pretty nifty game. So far I've hovered around the Warrior and/or Spellwarrior types of character. But I think I should start a Spell Caster-only person, or an Archer-Only person. That'd be cool.
And maybe I should make an evil character too, just for kicks.

I have just rolled an Undead Warlock on gorgannash. So far I really like it. It's been the easiest to level for me yet. Of course I am only a few levels in...

Yesterday evening was my first day of some serious playing in WoW, after I had tweaked the keyboard settings a bit - using Num Lock to switch between walk/run was driving me nuts, since on my laptop I have to press the Function key (bottom left) and one of the F-buttons (top right) to get Num Lock...
Spent some time trying to convince a 14-year-old that no, my night elf hunteress was really not interested in becoming his night elf warrior's girlfriend. He was really persistent, so I finally stated that I already had a boyfriend - Daelric (sorry about that, Mr.D).
I found it amazingly easy to level - at least to begin with, maybe it gets harder the higher you get?
I was rather amused to discover that out of the armour pieces that I looted yesterday, a flimsy sleeveless leather vest that emphasized my bosom nicely was the one to give the best protection - I think that is what might have attracted the attention of that elf warrior in the first place

Yup some of the armour looks far more skimpy on the females than the males. Typical male game designers!

No apology needed!
My one female character (the Dwarf Hunter) has been hit on a couple of times... the first time I ignored it, the second time I decided that the character, ahem, "didn't like boys"... that stopped the spotty little herbert in his tracks!

Arrgh - I'm obviously not allowed to post on the WoW Europe forum site until after my 30 days trial (i.e. non-paying) period - so I was hoping someone here might have an idea about this problem of mine:
My quest window says I have 2 completed quests, so I'm now trying to find the NPCs that gave me those quests - but one of them; Syral Bladeleaf, has no sign above her head, and I'm unable to communicate with her.
The odd thing is that I don't remember actually having completed her quest - but when I go to the exact spot where I'm supposed to hand over her stuff, there's no one there - so I assumed I had already done it, and promptly forgotten it...
*confused*
