Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

I've got two coins I think, but I've not played WoW for a little while for various reasons... not least of which is the fact that DDO is actually starting to grow on me.

i got a teal suit myself and on a gnome it looks like... well, it looks like i'm a colorblind cat burgler, with a beard.

so... i ended up getting a green dress as well. it looks like the rest of my robes, so don't you dare call it a dress! plus, it matches my venomshroud shoulderpads.

You alliance pukes .

So I ganked a rouge that was 5 levels higher than me yesterday in Arathi Highlands. I think that I am getting better at PvP. What do you need to do to get your PvP trinket?

Certainly not what one guy did to me... I was playing my Orc Shaman, who was Level 6 at the time, and spotted a Dwarf just outside Orgrimmar... I was keeping an eye on him and sending information on his movements over Local Defense. And so he killed me, twice.

I wouldn't have minded but for the fact that he did it when I wasn't looking and came up on my screen as Level ?? meaning he was substantially more powerful than me. I hope he lost a couple of Honour Points for that.

I've also just remembered the lamest thing I've ever witnessed on WoW... same character as above, still in starting area and doing the obligatory "quest in a cave" that all starting areas seem to have. Next thing I know a group passes me by consisting of a Level 2 Troll Shaman, a Level 1 Orc Rogue (I think) and a level 25 Orc Warrior... the Warrior was killing all the monsters while the other guys were getting the loot! I mean grouping up for the first set of quests is bad enough, but doing it with a powerful character and making him do all the work... sheesh.

I have been known to tank my buddies through instances (mostly so they get the gear) but that is a bit stupid.

I may gank the odd lowbie if I am en route through contested territory. A lvl 11 gnome really has no business being in those areas at any rate.

I don't think that you lose honour for killing a lowbie, but you certainly do not gain an HK.

you do lose honor for a dk - it isn't enough though.

and which trinket are you talking about, for PvP? i was screwed out of a rank this week, which makes me mad. i had enough points to advance a level and yet none of the activitiy i did monday was counted as last week - not only that, but it doesn't show up as this week's either, so i lost about 9000 honor points and 148 kills, meanwhile my curent rank is maxed all th way out which means that all the honor i gain this week is basically going to be 1/3 of what will actually count, as they do not count honor points in full after you have enough to gain one rank in a week. it's tauren excrement.

I know that rouges can get a PvP trinket that will dispell Fear which is my enemy. Fear is the number one thing that kills me.

rogue, for the love of god!!

man. that's the one thing that kills me in server chat, and most of the time i think it's on purpose.

anywho, alliance has a trinket that does get rid of fear, polymorph and stun, however the horde does not - they get one that dispels stun and slow effects. the rank i believe is grunt, for horde. that's only rank 2 - you get rank 1 with a simple 25 kills in a week.

i am rank 6, waiting for rank 7, not so well on my way into 8

Speaking of the rogue/rouge thing...

My favorite-ish webcomic Sluggy Freelance (located at http://www.sluggy.com for those who've never been there) is currently running a filler week, with the guest artist being one of the website organizers/forum admins for the Sluggy fan community. She's basically taking screencaptures of WoW and captioning them.

I didn't think I'd like it as a non WoW player, but I still find 'em funny. You people might find them to be more so.

And yes, the rogue/rouge issue comes up in it.

Ouch...just realized that they've updated and the week's over...go back a bit, and it'll be there.

Or, if you're finding that post in a few years, feel free to go to the beginning of Sluggy Freelance and read it all! The WoW stuff is in there somewhere. AND Sluggy is worth reading, dear people of 2010.

Don't those epic shoulder pads look daft?

Caerwynn, at the forum for the Entropia game, someone recently tried to convince people to try SGW instead and, interestingly enough, the only one responding to that was a new player, who posted this as a reason not to play SGW any more:

"Now that Jedi has become a starter profession, and not an elite skill, there is no real kudos for becoming one."

Any comment on this? Do you agree? Disagree? If so, or not, why?

I totally agree, I hate seeing loads of Jedi running around. It's against the timeframe of the game, when Jedi are supposed to be rare and hidden. Previously it was a long hard slog to become a Jedi and no mean achievement for those who wanted to become one. Now it's been devalued and is believed to have been a directive from Lucas Arts rather than SOE.

But that aside, SWG has a great community and social aspect that was missing in WoW and it was that that brought me back into the game. I am enjoying being back and in spite of the huge changes (not necessarily good ones) I am having fun.

Titania (gone for lunch)

I've now been playing PE for almost four months, and I seem to have achieved some fame - or could that be infamy?smiley - winkeye

Recently one of the über players greeted me ingame with my name smiley - bigeyes - my reply in the chat window was '*mutters to self* Wow, X said hi to me!smiley - bigeyes' and her reply was '*mutters to self* Wow, Y recognized me!:D'smiley - laugh

Then, when the members of the society I'm a member of were asked to suggest someone to be one of the sub-leaders of the soc, my name was mentioned!smiley - boing

It's definitely the social side of the game that has gotten me addicted to PE - there are a lot of helpful and nice people, but also the odd rotten egg/scammer/scum, as in RL.

It's rather flattering to be recognised, agreed, usually because of the official forum in my case. But having been playing for over twenty months, I have got to know a lot of players.

Admittedly I did have a full three month break whilst in WOW, but all three accounts remained subbed. I am addicted, but it *is* Star Wars after all, even if it is bearing less and less relationship to the films.

Anyone trying out Face of Mankind? I have had a brief play and have no idea at all what I'm supposed to do. The graphics are pretty awful, but I'm sure it's a very intelligent game smiley - erm
