*Hermione is quite overwhelmed with her magnificent gifts. Although half-envying Sirius his extraordinary cloak, she discovers as she fastens the clasp to her cloak that a definite thrum of magic emanates from the otherworldy jewels*

*Hermione also resolves to make use of that bibliography as soon as she gets to the library*

*And she regards the fish, trying to mask her uncertainty*

Um, what a fine fish, yes. Everyone, thank you very much. I've quite lost track of who brought in the other gifts, but the givers can hopefully explain them to me. They are quite lovely, and you know, I think the wrapped ones are rather enjoying their sense of mystique!

*and indeed, some of the gifts are preening and trying to upstage the others. A little bit of ribbon-pulling is going on when they think no-one is looking*

*tips her head and contemplates taking off with Hermione's fish. decides against it, in the spirit of birthdays, and instead snatches a turkey leg and runs back to hide behind the while she eats it*

*finishes the turkey leg. catches sight of the . starts it up with another bat of her paw and they are off again, running around the walls, leaping over doorways and windows, narrowly missing any guests keeping to the edges of the room*

*she runs over and takes Hermione's gift and gives it to Sirius, and takes Sirius's gift and gives it to Hermione*

There. Much better. For Hermione, I've found a lovely cloak in light blue velvet. Lots of lovely blue jewels on the fastener there, you see. Oh, and it /might/ have powers, but I'm not entirely sure which. *she s conspiratorily*

And for Sirius, I've gotten a wonderful owl. Snowy white with small blue spots near the breast. But do be careful with the box, I think she's a bit cranky at being covered up. *the box hoots angrily* ...You might want to open her soon.
