Doesn't anybody make a good gin and potassium any more?

A day of leisure, for me, is when there are fewer that six items on my to-do list. Today is a day of leisure!

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Good morning all.

And here in deepest Englandshire the sun is just about over the yard-arm - so it's time for me to have a smiley - stiffdrink too.

I've been thinking a lot about the current discussion on 'Atelier Ambience and Policy' and agree that we've got a lot of good stuff going on here. I also agree that it's never a good thing to be complacent about anything in life and we should periodically do a bit of collective navel-gazing.

Perhaps some more concerted effort to discuss less fluffy matters would be good; We do seem to have become a little bit 'lighter' in recent months. I certainly enjoy reading other people's views in discussions - looking at something from several different angles is thought provoking and always teaches me something.

Having said that, I do like the fluffy stuff too - and we need it as a counter-balance and as a 'social gel' for group cohesiveness.

The Atelier has become an important part of my life - and I value our friendship.

Could someone please wrangle that intrusive capital W and hurl it back over here?

We have a beautiful, cool autumn day. Our autumn color isn't as vibrant as it is moist years because of the drought. But things are beginning to color up.

Absolutely beautiful photos, Lil. I envy you your location.

Speaking of which, I have been trying to decide where I would live if I could afford to go absolutely anywhere I please. (Who knows. I may win the lottery someday. smiley - winkeye) I have a short list of possibilities so far, but they all are in, or near mountains.

Late birthday wishes to Bald Bloke, greetings to Kaisa.

There doesn't seem to be any sign of trees changing colour here. I'm not sure when it normally happens.

Kasia...how are you? Did you get your smiley - tea yet?

I've got to stop being so adventuresome in my eating. The whole "food poisoning" thing is getting old.

Kasia, good to meet you.

MR, if you are getting "food poisoning" alot, then maybe it isn't the food. What's the common denominator?

Hyp - If I could live anywhere in the world, I don't know, but like you, mountains, and the ocean would have to play a part. As well as someplace that has actual seasons, and not the So Cal seasons of Summer, Rain, Mudslides, and Fire.

Oh and today for me includes.

Going to the Rose Bowl to watch UCLA play (college American football). Game is at 4:30 pm, leaving for the tailgate at 10am, get their at about 10:30 am, tailgate until 4:30, watch game until 7:30, tailgate again until about 10 pm. I love college football.

On the subject of tailgating, is this something unique to the USA, or do other countries do this as well?

smiley - wah I did it again. Wrote a long post - about how I think of the Atelier and by mistake closed h2g2. Everything is lost. smiley - erm

I should really learn to write important stuff somewhere safe and then copy-paste.

And now I have to go cook.

Sort of, they are called Banana daiquiri. Here is Terry Prachett's recipie for the Ultimate Banana Daiquiri:
Take One ticket to New Orleans Take One cab to Bourbon Street Take steps to the counter of the all night frozen dacquiri shop. Take One Large Cupful.

It might not be accurate any more, but it is still a good idea.

It should be explained that, by tailgating, Courtesy is not talking about following another car very closely. smiley - silly

(my main reason for composing my (longer) postings in Notepad really is that I can do that while going through the backlog - adressing things while they happen in my head - but it does have the advantage of tending to stay if h2g2 doesn't... BTW, as for saving: F16034?thread=76493&post=14283433#p14265719 smiley - laugh)

Gin and potassium - isn't that how you make a pink gin? smiley - silly (smiley - ermI know, I hold a chemistry degree - at least, I recieved one aeons ago. Potassium, at least in it's permanganate salt, is very violet...)

Airiest Doll (aren't you changing masks faster than most smiley - cdouble? smiley - applause for the variety!), I think you're a wise woman smiley - ok (correction: I think I know!). That summary post wasn't half bad.

The sun's quite a lot below yardarm as well as horizon here - I am comfortably sipping a rather good smiley - redwine, a Primitivo from Manduria in Italy. That'll be, according to DNA patterns, the same grape as is known to USAians as Zinfandel. Ummmmm smiley - drool

Teuchter - I think it's smiley - cool, given your profession, that your anagram-masks shows teeth smiley - smiley

Where I'd live, given every opportunity? The two usual places that pop up is Provence (Southern France) or just a bout right here. We're boringly happy with where we live - nearness of forest play a big role as does the clientele (read: they're as silly as ourselves about not missing a chance for a get-together over food and wine smiley - smiley). But, in time, a little further out - not more that a few miles, really. Grounds with room for a large [what's that called - an area where you can let smiley - dogsmiley - dog roam, fenced in, at the back of your house]. Still near forest. A bit more realistic than Provence - which then'll be a regular in the holiday list smiley - smiley
