Personall, I always find graphics easier to 'read' where this sort of data is concerned. Also, how about putting the totals for each continent together, then from there linking to breakdowns of each continent?

It might be an idea to put it all on maps, once the place names get more and more obscure.
Of course, that would mean you lot would have to look us all up on the maps first. Do you want grid bearings?

Could you move/remove the first link saying "here" that leads to the original forum as people keep following it and replying which sort of gets on the nerves of some of us (particularly Mike A) that posted months ago. Instead post a link to one of the forums at the bottom of the page or couch the link in a phrase like "Do not post to this forum" rather than just "Here".

Graphical could be good - perhaps a map with the numbers for each country/nation/sub-continent. If the map were an image map, then there could be a link to either an article or forum for researchers from that place or with an interest to converse.
Smaller countries may need arrows with names and numbers.
Larger countries or those with large numbers of researchers could have a link to an article rather than a forum with a map of that country breaking down the details into political internal boundaries such as states, province or county, with a 'not specified which' statistic too.

How often do you intend to update the info?
Could the states of Australia be separated out - after all Australia is bigger than continental Europe (not including "The country that used to be known as Russia").
Ditto with the USA.

I have one suggestion. A lot of the work I deal with is internet mapping and there are a few open source ways to create a markup map which everyone can put a point down where they are. This way we can see who is close to us and maybe spark more meets and what not.
