Friday Night at the H&G

Haha, hello Happy Nerd! I'm up but only just... drinking Dark Ness, which I reviewed last time as a 4- beer

Well, it's 3.15am here... though the wife is snoozing on the sofa and the cricket is still going on... wonder if I can sneak another one in?

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Dec 4, 2010
Tonight I have enjoyed:
(512) IPA on cask
A superb American IPA which, when served as a keg beer, is pretty good, but really comes alive as a cask-conditioned beer.
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout
Absolutely one of my favourite seasonal winter beers. It's an imperial stout (10%ABV) and will therefore get you pretty ed up if you're not careful, but the high roast malt flavours are all there in spades, and this year's release is a lot less sweet than last year's, which is much more to my liking.
A beer from Harpoon which, I'm told, is a fresh hop ale. It was okay, I guess, but not in then same league as the Sierra Nevada fresh hop beers, or the Boulevard 21st Anniversary Fresh Hop Pale Ale which I had a few days ago. Man, that stuff's good.

Skanyrich - Do it! Do it!
I've got about 4 more ounces to go. Then I should clean the kitchen nicely so we can bottle another batch of homebrew tomorrow.

I do like Sierra Nevada's Fresh Hopped ale. Actually came across one I didn't like. Weird, huh? Can't remember the name. It just wasn't well balanced. Maybe if I drink a little more homebrew, it'll come to me.

Maybe it was the Northern Hemisphere? That one wasn't so good this year, but the Estate Grown Harvest Ale was just fantastic

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Dec 4, 2010
I was looking at the imported American beers they've got on sale at the mail order (well internet really) place I use... they had the choc stout on there and I was looking at it with interest (especially after noticing the ABV) I think I'll get a few of them in for my Dad to enjoy, to aid his recovery post his opperation in hospital on the 24th... (relaly waht a silly date to book in for an opperation....) I think a 10% plus stout oughta help his recovery time though
Key: Complain about this post
