Lagunitas Wilco Tango Foxtrot Ale
From the bottle "A malty, robust jobless recovery ale"
Alcohol: an extremely precise 7.83%
Aroma smells like Cascade hops, huge mouthfeel, generously hopped, very yummy.
4/4

An excellent beer indeed. If you see it around, try their Undercover Investigation Shutdown Ale too

I don't normally approve of novelty beers, but I saw these at the 3 Counties Show yesterday and couldn't help but chuckle.

They have a much bigger range than this, it seems. But who couldn't resist a drink - any drink - called Dandelion & Birdshit?

Anderson Valley Brewing Company's Fresh Hop Ale.
This one really showcases the fresh hops. A big, fresh citrusy aroma and a hoppy bite. It could use some more malt to back up the abundant hops, but that probably wasn't the effect they were going for.
Overall a really good ale.

Now, here comes the whiny complaint: I had to argue to get them to fill my growler, which came from a different brewery. The bartender first said that a re-fill into a growler with another brewery's label was prohibited by law. When I pointed out that the growler came from a now defunct brewpub, the bartender called someone for permission to refill.
When did this happen? The whole point of having a growler was so you could come away with a half-gallon of fresh craft beer from the tap.

I don't know the details of California alcohol control, but here in Texas the people who police the alcohol laws have bartenders and bar owners scared shitless in case they do something wrong and transgress some obscure, convoluted, unfathomable rule, so your bartender might have just been uber-cautious afraid of losing their job or getting busted in some way, like the bartender who asked me if the second pint I was buying two nights ago was for someone who's over 21. In fact they were both for me - I just didn't want to queue up a second for 20 minutes to get a damn beer.
I'd imagine that California is a little more easy-going that Texas on such things, but bear that in mind when something odd like that happens.
The beer sounds delicious I don't think we can get Anderson Valley beers in Texas. However, I did, just yesterday, finally get myself a bottle of Sierra Nevada Estate Homegrown Wet Hop Ale. I couldn't try it last night because I had to work, and I have to go out this evening to a Brooklyn beer tasting followed by a tapping of Dogfish Head Bitches Brew (one of only three kegs in the whole of Austin, I hear... or maybe Texas). But tomorrow night I'm going to be into the Sierra Nevada

That explains it. Our obscure, convoluted, unfathomable rules regarding alcohol are probably only slightly less bizarre than those regarding water rights or marijuana cultivation and use.
Well I don't want to cost anyone a job in this wretched economy. Maybe I better start looking for a plain, unmarked half-gallon brown jug.

Or just go to the supermarket and buy a 12-pack of Bud Light.
Oh, wait... nooooo!

I'm pretty sure I have never done that.
Not that I'm a purist. The fizzy lager of choice when I was a young lass was either Oly Dark or Lucky Lager, both made in the beautiful Olympia Brewery, and both priced well below the national brands Bud and Miller.
Lucky was a particular favorite because it had a silly rebus puzzle under the cap.
When I had some scratch, I'd get Anchor Steam.
