Evarard's Tiger

Nasty, 'orrible WMC bitter. Tastes like cardboard and bleach. Poured it down the sink after two mouthfuls.

I've actually had to switch pint glasses after that nasty shite, it's left indelible stains up the side.

Speaking of indelible stains, Film4 has Showgirls on, by the way.

And I'm appropriately onto John Willie's Bitter

Chestnut in both colour and aroma, this pours absolutely perfectly and is a spiky, lemony delight on the tongue. Very exciting in the mouth, full of bite without any unpleasant aftertaste. Interesting stuff.

Fuller's Honeydew

Lovely golden colour, light, and tastes faintly of toasted marshmallows. Bit of a grower, this one - tastes a bit bland at first but really grows on the palate, and I'll have probably added an smiley - empty by the end of the pint. Not bad at all - I'm imagining drinking this on the boundary smiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - ale

I'm enjoying Showgirls, I have to say. Been watching the Alien trilogy over half term and forgot how awful films could be...

I would suggest Lainey gives it a try, but she's missed some of the best bits and she's got an eye full of acetic acid in any case.

In between the server problems, I've written a bit of code:

http://www.cavendishcavaliers.com/h2g2/beerfest.php

With a few refinements and a lot of backtracking, I might be able to get the tasting notes pages updated - managing a database is so much easier than spreadsheets.

Nice. Only four or five Beerfests to backdate it with, then. smiley - winkeye

Entering the data itself will take an hour, tops. Repetitive and dull but fast work. A few tweaks on the code and the tasting pages will basically be generated for me - I'll just copy and paste them in.

Baltika (Russian lager)

Tastes exactly as you're imagining it will. It's a premium lager. It tastes like all the other premium lagers. smiley - alesmiley - empty

Hobgoblin Special Reserve

Pours much lighter than Hobgoblin, more of a pale colour and less of a creamy head.

Tastes...

Oh...

My....

F*cking....

God.

Awesome, mouth filling, incredible.

Rich, creamy, golden. Powerful, hoppy , rounded.

In-fuckin-credible.

This is a beer well beyond any rating we have so far given. Lord be praised for the Wychwood brewery.

Guinness Extra Stout
smiley - stoutsmiley - stoutsmiley - stout

Despite being one of the biggest and most corporate breweries in the world, Guinness still puts out a few good beers. Draft Guinness is not one of them. It's my opinion that nitro is one of the worst things to have ever happened to beer.

I hear that Guinness Foreign Extra Stout may be widely available in the US soon. That makes me very happy.

Evening all smiley - cheers

Oh jesus, it's like big chocolate nectar drops dripping down my throat.

Seriously, you have to go out and get some of this stuff.

This takes the p***. I'm here with a bland Russian lager that, it turns out, is imported by Carlsberg. Yes, Carlsberg: the epitome of bland. It's like Appleton importing the Cheeky Girls. And you're drinking the bastard son of Liv Tyler and Alexander Armstrong.

Evening G!

Is that the same as Guinness Foreign Extra?
