First we had the Theme Rant, then Theme Rant II - The Musical!! and now I give
you:
Theme Rant III - the Encore!!!
Last time the selection was a few of my favourites1 so this time, naturally, it's a few of the anti-social themes. Possibly with links from trawling the Net to annoy
you thus the title of The Post's 'cold sore column' can continue. Long may she reign!
Little Green Man What is this?! This is possibly the king of
terrible themes and it gets worse as it goes along! One of the many, many bad themes powered by the
1980s back in the days or yore where children were forced to wear the same colour top and bottom:
Green, yellow, electric pink! Shudder...
Fantastic Four ('97) / Iron Man ('96) You'll find both here. I like them both
but there's no denying that they're bad like many of cartoon series based on comic franchises.
Behold the strange campness of (The) Fantastic Four and the highly inventive lyrics of
Iron Man's 1996 theme. At least Awix'll know what I was on about if he remembers the
(first) Fantastic Four conversation.
Namor, the Sub-Mariner See above. Huh?!
Minder (I Could Be So Good For You) Nasty horrible catchy theme rubbish
thankfully made fun of on Little Britain. It's out there on the Net somewhere... but it's
protected. So hurray!
Skippy the Bush Kangaroo Warning now that this link takes you straight to the song:
Fal
l down a mine
*Click, click, click* What's that Skip? The theme is longer than I
remember? And the intro to bratty kids singing is really long? Thanks Skip!
Teletubbies Another link that goes straight to the song: here A
perfect example, in my opinion, of how a theme bodies its programme. Teletubbies is so blatant
toward patronising toddlers along with that Boobahs thing.
My Two Dads Same applies as the other two links: link So
bad it's funny. Wipe away a tear of mirth to this 'political correctness'.
Titanic theme You wouldn't be given a link even if I had it! Winner of 11 Oscars,
highest ever grossing film of all time, promoter of Celine Dion. Shouldn't have any of those labels
applied but it did with the 'singer' who launched a thousand female tweenage karaoke singers in
1997. It went on and on and on...
Keep Surfin' and please, don't have nightmares!
