Entry: Chairs - A28504
Author: Researcher 26593 - U26593
Hi there!
I found this whilst searching H2G2 for research on my tables project... any thoughts on this?
The first thought that comes to mind is the need for GuideML...
So... what do you think?

Aaagh - all that text makes my eyes go funny
There is though an EG entry in here somewhere I think - the stuff about the hardness/softness of the chair - chairs and hierarchy etc is quite interesting - but it's well hidden
Looks like an ex-dissertation to me - dumped straight into an article without changes.
With some cut and paste (more cut than paste to be fair) someone could turn this into something interesting.
Obviously paragraphs, headers etc and removing some of those academic references would be the first job.

Dude... dude...
This could be a GREAT entry if you'd spend the time to edit it down into a readable, friendly article. Right now it reads like a cold and sterile treatise on chairs. Take out most of the references and quotes, leave the best in. Instead of chapters, block your entry into sub-categories. Best of luck - don't give up on this; with perhaps an hour's worth of work, this can be whipped into shape.

Ouch!
Needs formatting. Like this it is almost completely unreadable.
I'll have another look when you've put paragraphs and headers in.

I was waiting to see if anyone else would take this on, but if no-one else wants to I will, Heaven help me.
I'd better ask for a formal transfer to the Flea Market.
GuideML would be just the start. Open-heart surgery will be needed, plus quite a bit of re-writing because it often refers in detail to pictures which aren't there, also to quoted data which are probably copyright so would have to be deleted.
I do have an entry-writing slot free for doing this now. There's quite a lot of work to do on this one, and I don't want to hang around, because if I did I'd probably get involved in other things.

Well, Bels, if you want to take it, that would be great!
I'll remove it from PR but shall I put it into the Flea Market or do you want to take it directly?

It would be best if it went via the Flea Market so everyone knows what is happening. Are you able to do that yourself? Is anyone able to come along and put someone else's entry into the Flea Market? I didn't know if that was possible.

As Caper Plip put it in PR, she can remove it and resubmit it to the FM, although if you're going to take it on, i don't particularly see why it has to go there. You've declared your interest in this thread, so I'd wait for CP to remove it, then copy the entry, so you can make the necessary amendments.
Is the original author still around? I presume not!

The author left the building over three years ago. Although I could post something in case they return, I think they get a formal message when it goes into the Flea Market, don't they?
My understanding is that although this doesn't _have_ to go via TFM it would be a Good Thing if it did.

Do you know, I don't know the answer to that one. How long would it have to stay on the Flea Market, then?

No minimum period that I know of. Guessing wildly here, I'd say it would go into TFM, I would post saying I'm adopting it, I would copy it to my space crediting the original author, and it should then be taken out of TFM back to the original entry.
But this may be pure fantasy on my part... Don't bother about it, I'll just ask the BIs for a transfer to TFM for the sake of formality, but might start working on it anyway.
