Adopt A Researcher
Bluebottle Posted Mar 14, 2000
Yes, I will do my duties faithfully.
I'm just thinking about who, though.

Adopt A Researcher
Mike A (snowblind) Posted Mar 16, 2000
Just crashing in here saying I would like to adopt a researcher.
Can I adopt one of those with their name up but without an adopter person (heck-do you even understand me?). I think that would figure. Give me one of those chaps then please .

OK, Mike A. You can have Tombstone, unless you would prefer a different one. I'll do the paperwork on your adoption tomorrow as I have to go soon, but thanks for dropping by and taking an interest

There's this dude called MikeS I remembered about...
Actually, yeah, I'll have Tombstone and I'll give you a link to MikeS if anybody wants him (oooh that sounds hard).

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Mar 18, 2000
I was just telling Mike A(PRAT) how I stumbled across the home page of an old acquaintance, Sporkulius Eglon, and discovered that he signed himself off some 20 weeks ago; but he's not lost, he actually wrote a goodbye note on his home page.
And so Mike told me about the Battersea Researchers Home. Splendid Idea! I'll look round straight away, as net slowdown allows, and find some more candidates.
Now, what about the researchers who never even set up their home pages so that they are not only lost but incommunicado? I wonder how many of those there are?
Lil
ps Mike A, it's so easy to change your handle around here, your MikeS may be someody completely different by now...

We could set up a DNA home for writers who are currently enjoying a long bath for them Lil. What does everyone else think?

Mike A (snowblind) Posted Mar 18, 2000
Hmmm, that's a thought, is there anyone who's going to adopt DNA?
btw Lil, it's Post Researcher AT, you Philistine.
Methinks that if MikeS has changed his name then he'd have taken the opportunity to get around on h2g2 too. That would be nice.
I've been to Tombstone's page and promised to look after him .

Can't remember their reseacher names. I say names because it's two people sharing one identity. Go click and you'll understand.
I could bring you a helluva lot more lost researchers over the course of my travels if you wanted...

I found a researcher named Dr. Jack -- #U999! -- who has been absent for 46 weeks... Seems to be a biker type.

Ouch!
That must be really depressing, having to trawl through all those neglected pages.
ffmike said something about the masses of these sorts of researchers, surely he'd be interested in this place?

BluesSlider Posted Mar 19, 2000
Thanks for the hard work guys I think I've got all our missing researchers up to date. The saddest thing is knowing that some of them might never come back Still, we live in hope, and at least they won't get put down here (unless TPTB decide to have a tidy up).

BluesSlider Posted Mar 23, 2000
Thanks BB, the Mute doesn't qualify yet (Only 17 weeks and it has to be 26). Lord Splattertrousers does qualify at 37 weeks and I will be adding that researcher, although I find the common reference to hovercraft and eels curious, if not suspicious
Key: Complain about this post
