Once again, mine were:
Bruce Dickinson
Paul Di'Anno
Blaze Bayley
Johnny Rotten
Ozzy Osbourne
Remember, these are dudes who do not play anything! So no Jack Bruces, no Kerry Kings and no Beatles!

Um... Quick question: If they normally only sing, but occasionally stick a harmonica in their mouths, do they count? Surely Mick Jagger and Stephen Tyler are Vocalists?

Yeah, I suppose they count. Come to think of it, yeah they count!
Mick Jagger sure is a vocalist. Never heard of Stephen Tyler...

This is the part where I get really obscure:
1) Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo. Her band is featured in the movie 'Ten Things I Hate About You', for those who've never heard of them. They're the ones who play on the roof at the end, among other appearances. Her voice is soooo incredibly sexy.
2) Monique Powell of Save Ferris. This is the other band that is featured in that same movie. Pretty convenient, eh? Also why I loved the movie, but I digress. Save Ferris is the ska band that plays the prom. Her voice is sexy as hell, and she also has a very sexy stage presence.
3) Karina Denike of Dance Hall Crashers. They're not in any movie, so you'll just have to trust me. Her and Elyse Rogers sing duets on every song. Elyse is the somewhat nasally alto, Karina is the dulcet soprano.
And now for something completely different:
4) Joe Elliot, Def Leppard
5) David Lee Roth, soloist and formerly of Van Halen (back when they were still good).
Mike, may I make a suggestion? I think it would be a bit more illuminating if you added the band names next to the people on your lists.

I can't believe you won't allow singing musicians, multi-talented as these fantastic people are, I've decided to muck up your stupid system with a few - mentioned - who sing and play, so there:
1. Jewel Kilcher, solo - singer, guitarist - Angelic, so there
2. Jeff Buckley, solo - multi-instrumental - another angel
3. Thom Yorke, radiohead - guitarist too - melancholy angel
4. Michael Stipe, R.E.M. - luverly...
5. Robert Plant, Led Zep = Billy Corgan, SP - guitarist too, both shriek like bansheeeeeeeeeeeez
Richard Spencer (nodemons) *****

Mike, nodemons made a perfectly valid point above. You responded with a breach of the h2g2 Terms And Conditions.
As an ACE, you should know better (and if you want to stay an ACE, you should DEFINITELY know better).
Anyway, here's my five:
1. David Bowie
2. Björk
3. Smokey Robinson
4. Johnny Rotten
5. Mark E. Smith (The Fall)
