We will be netless at home (for likely a month or so) starting the 27th, so the likelihood that I will be able to attend is very slim
(To those that know me--yes, the relocation is *supposed* to be happening. Those that don't know me and are curious as to what I'm talking about, you may go to F74902?thread=4237863 )

canna you just pop down to some internet cafe or library for an hour? you seem to be a mover and shaker around here... it would be nice if you could attend!! and don't forget... you can google a wonderful outfit for it

Me? A mover and shaker? I doubt half the people coming to the tea had so much as heard of me before the tea was planned No, I tend to stay in my own little corner of h2g2 (which I'll admit has expanded some the last year or so, since so many of my old friends had elvised (though a few of them seem to be back now))--if you mean the sheer number of badges on my space, such things accumulate in 6 years
Anyway, if the tea only lasts until the end of the Italics' work day, then I'd have to get online before 9am, and I don't see myself getting PaperBaby out of the house that early during vacation (the last week of vacation, at that).
*goes to check out the links anyway*

perhaps a solution?
fluffykerfuffle Posted Aug 25, 2007
okay... stay with me on this; it's convoluted:
Have you ever gone to some sort of reunion or gone on a long trip and then the subsequent welcome-back party? And you find yourself telling folks over and over again the same synopsis of your experiences?
Haven't you just always wished you had a tiny little tapeplayer fashioned into a charming broach with a button on the front that people could just push and your story could be heard whilst you sip your drink, nod ruefully at the bad parts and smile with one raised eyebrow at the good ones?
So... here is my proposal... you tape a series of random chatty Tea remarks and then i, or someone you know who is going to be at the Tea, wears the Amy Broach with Random Remarks Button... and anyone, incluing the italics, can then exchange witty Tea repartee with you, albeit somewhat inane, by pushing that button for replies.
just put your list of comments at the bottom of some old unedited entry or post it to your designated Random Witty Party Repartee Broach wearer.. .
This could work!! And it could work for ANYone who isn't able to attend!! Someone could even wear a DNA RWPRB !
Just for the actual 10 to 5 time slot, Random Remarks Broach wearers could append that to their nicknames.... for example....
researcher 206083726537 who is wearing Amy Pawloski's RWPRB
yes? no?
perhaps a solution?

of course... for guys wearing the button... it could be in the form of a tieclip or political button
perhaps a solution?

Yeah, except I'd probably just be lurking anyway--after all, I wouldn't be there until the last hour or so anyway *shrugs* You may get other takers, though. *thinks* Wait a sec--I thought I read somewhere that you're a bit west of me, as well--you must just be planning to attend the set-up and very beginning, huh? Maybe you should see if you can get someone to take 'you' to the rest
perhaps a solution?

i am fortunate enuf to have a sporadic must-do schedule so there is no telling when i might be in attendance... however... yes it would be fun to have someone wear my RWPRP for awhile... ...i think the making of the Clever Witticisms for Tea Parties list could be quite fun!!
