You're not on your own. There's many of us Researchers, myself included, who've had interesting and well written Entries in PR for months and not a biscuit. Don't worry, the time will come. I STILL want to see the other Entries you were on about! Write them and damn the consequences. That's the only thing I can see that maybe lets the Entry down a little in the eyes of Scouts perhaps...no apparent links to other Entries or BBC links...
Try working on something else and forgetting about this one, you never know, one day, BANG! Your Entry has been recommended...
Good luck.

If theres anything you recon i should link then i will, but theres no sparta stuff (hence why im doing it, and why the entery has a basic block of info).

You could also change the entry title like someone suggested.

Here's some outside links:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/alexander_the_great.shtml
http://www.sikyon.com/Sparta/sparta_eg.html
That's just for starters, sure you could find more yourself.

Nope, im happy with the title as it is, theres no reason why it should be changed.
BTW you've said that before HPB. If your asking a question or making a suggestion, see if its already been done first. Saves time

Thanks PGHF!
I havent been able to find a proper sparta site, barring the channel 4 one. Im reluctant to link it though as it sort of goes off on one, and doesnt have much on the front page.
I will link the alexander the great one (if there surpirsingly isnt a guide entery)

"However one thing lets it down IMHO. The title. It sounds clumsy."
To quote Mr. Frood.

I disagree HPB. He also mentioned something about too many cooks - i beleive he was right in that instance.
The title is absolutely fine *has sense of deja vu.. again*
Like i said HPB stop repeating stuff its just going round in circles and is a waste of time

No probs, the Sparta site does get better, click the link on history and there's a nice pic of some Spartan soldiers. I've looked for an Alexander Edited Guide Entry...not a sausage. However there is this A679890 but it's not Edited. You can add a bit at the bottom of your Entry - BBC Related Links and link the Alex one, always goes down well with Scouts that does There's some Edited Entries on Greece that might fit nicely - this one; A668171 which mentions a Spartan king and a couple of heroes and this one; A649992 about the Trojan War. Even an outside link to that silly movie Troy might be worthwhile...
Hope it helps get your Entry in the Guide, my work here is done

If you agree, AD, that too much suggestion can ruin a good entry then why do you need the Scouts to post?

Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans) Posted Jul 23, 2004
Ill do that sometime this weekend i reckon. Its not like its going anywhere.
Ill leave troy out though i think. If people link the phalanx to the film they wont understand what a phalanx was at that era (in the film its just a rable of troops)

Not to mention that the Iliad is a myth.

Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans) Posted Jul 23, 2004
Possibly its a myth. The city of Troy does/did exist after all, and its feasble to think there could have been a war for resources at some point (the spartans werent the friendliest of people)
Anyways wrong thread. This is peer reveiw

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Jul 23, 2004
We have no objection to Researchers who feel that their entry is being overlooked, bumping it back up to the top of the PR list once or twice a week by posting a reminder to the thread - in fact a lot of us welcome it. There are almost 300 entries curerntly in PR, and nowhere near that many Scouts. We only get to make two recommendations every four weeks, and it's often hard to find the good stuff amongst all the crap - I'd say the ratio is something 1:9 good to bad.
We've all got our own ways of sorting through PR, we've all got our own ways of keeping tabs of entries we think have promise, and we've all got a life outside of PR - we're volunteers.
This is a good entry and I'm sure it's going to get into the EG. There are many others that will also make it, and a whole lot more that won't. If a thread doesn't get any posts from a Scout for weeks at a time it doesn't mean that the entry is being wilfully ignored - it means that we're getting some sun on our faces or beer down our neck or washing the dishes or changing a nappy or doing the laundry or watching some TV or loving on the wife/husband or pushing a supermarket trolley up and down the aisles or putting up some shelves or cleaning out the cat box or washing the car or going to the flicks or writing a letter or unblocking a drain or visiting the rellies or painting a wall or digging over a vegetable bed or even working.
Keep bumping the conversation back up to the top of the list, and if it's as good as this one then eventually it'll get picked.

*sigh* Yes, the Greek Myth Entries are about Myths. The point of suggesting further links is to provoke interest in a particular topic isn't it? However, I'm not going to get dragged into a silly argument, just trying to help Asmod with his Entry. It has been suggested to me by Scouts to add links to other Edited Guide Entries, outside weblinks (especially beeb ones) and to think laterally about the Entry to spark further investigation by the reader to enhance the possibility of my Entry being picked for the Edited Guide. I did this and had three entries picked and edited within 3 weeks. Just some advice for the Entry, I think it's been critiqued enough now really. On that note though, have a bit of a recon around the web Asmod, you might find some decent sites to link, the ones I suggested were the top hits off jeeves, there could be far far better. Again, keep it up because I think the series of Entries you have begun are well worth it. A fascinating part of human history.

To be honest i cant wait to get started on the Spartans. They were pretty much an early form of feudal knight.
However most of the Spartans considered writting to be a lesser skill, so they simply didnt bother. So all spartan observations come from said myths or from other greeks.
Ill link tonight or tomorrow.
Gosho: Fully understand, im just wanting to get one thing done then focus on another, which is why i want this in asap.
