A Conversation for Magicians Guild : Guild Hall
Lady Shaylar Kareen's Chamber
Thorn Posted Sep 16, 2006
*There is a knocking on the door*
"Is this where I might be able to find Lady High Elementalist Shaylar Kareen?" The tall and somewhat swarthy-seeming individual says.
"I'm here to tell you something in regards to my son Ecg. It would be of benefit for you to know. Only just found it out recently myself. Yes, this Is Beowulfson de Kraken."
*Takes off his five-cornered hat with its plumage, and you can see a pair of horns going out towards the front-ish top to his forehead.*
"I'm actually a full-demon who has been stuck in human form for a number of years. That means he is really a half, and- not a quarter as I had been lead to believe before. Perhaps you have noticed a few signs of it?"

[B. de K. Unagi]: "Um, apparently this may seem that I have come at somewhat of a bad time. Please do forgive my sudden intrusion here then, which was unnanounced. I may come back here later. [I] Think I will go looking for my son or in the Market. Good day."
*He leaves from outside of the door in the hall where he was standing*

*Ecg's father walks back into the hall, and after pacing a bit back and forth he sits down in a wooden chair over at one end of it and starts smoking a pipe*

: From this point on I want to call him Kraken the lesser or Kraken II, since those two are shorter than his full name.
[Kraken, the lesser]: *Partly amused to be distracted from his troubles*
"Hello little cat. I remember we had a ship'sboard cat to take care of getting rid of the rats."
*Then his mind goes back to the matter he has to prepare to discuss.*
"Oh,- this might be terrible. They might revoke my son's application, gold notwithstanding... to find out. To find out what? That a family's being so careless as to miscalculate its geneology, would let something dangerous as a half-demon into the guild?"
*Tries to pick up the cat and set it in his lap. The parrot on his shoulder seems kind of displeased by this.*
}Sigh{
*Strokes its fur a little bit as he tries to think of a good way to break this to one of the powers that be*

*Kraken does not notice that his parrot is upset, as he is too preoccupied in thinking of a way to explain his startling realization*

OOC: there's a bit discrepancy as I don't really _know_ where Elwyn's coming from in both sense of the phrase but, for this purpose I could always retro the rp elsewhere later
IC:
*swish, went her robes, swish swish.*
*Elwyn entered the chamber. For years she had been feeling rather self-conscious of her height (if you're tall she would complain to her childhood mate and healer Katriana Al'Bryn, people expect you to be more mature and stronger to which Katriana would in her dear "passive" way complain about Elwyn complaining) but for once, tall was beautiful, no - it was intimidating. And unusual in constrast with such a cherubically grubby face, composed in only the greatest angst that a human canvas could express. The apprentice was not in a good mood. She was not in a good mood for a very logical reason. It all came down to her salamander, and a note the firey creature delivered to the hearth back at the cupboard half a watchglass ago.*
*she jumped in surprise* Lady Shaylar has visitors?
well then I shall return later. good-day!
auck!
*bowed she turned to go when a parrot caught her attention (how could it not?)*
*her head swiveled like an owl's*

[Kraken II]: "That is alright. I believe she is comatose. Or something. I don't mind" he kind of tries not to growl,- but speaking to people is something he had to clear his throat about a bit first.
"You wouldn't happen to in anyway know my son would you? Strange boy... 'bout this tall... hair that's green like seaweed?"

[Kraken II]: "Oh, that. Petey was a gift to me from a necromancer I had saved the life of once. As a way of thanks, you see."
It looks back at Elwyn, even though it's head is a skull, and it clicks its beak, kind of testy.

are you talking to me?
eh, no, Sir I dunno your son. Would I want to?
*turns to parrot* let the parrot speak for itself

[Kraken II]: *Raises an eyebrow like he doesn't believe her exactly quite, and then moves his hair so that the horns on his head are clear.*
"Well,- that's a matter of opinion. Here,- if you hold your finger out, Petey will perch on it. Like a live parrot. Have to say all the time saved from feeding and cleaning after leaves, well... good for reading."
Here he laughs a bit, not creully.

[Kraken the lesser]: "Well, ah. I say he is missing out then. Um... *changes the subject a bit* How many pirate elementalists could there be running about in one guild anyway? The one with an eel. Yes, the sort of yellow and silvery one that talks. That's him."

*holds out finger reluctantly* the beastie doesn't prefer finger food, am I correct?
I'm a shallow woman. Green isn't my type I prepare black bold print
anyway, horns are not appealing either *cruelly*

[Kraken II]: "No. He doesn't eat. He nips if he doesn't like yeh, have ta warn ya. He doesn't have horns. Leastaways not yet anyway. Yeah,- the aquatic metalsmith... sure you haven't at least once run into him. [H]e's got a small scar on one side a the face like this."
*Makes a tiny cross with two of his fingers*

[Kraken II]: "The highseas are nice. Landlubbers don't know what's there to be missed. Tkae it from me deary,- an Unagi without water to swim in is like ... well,- it'd be like going to a fancy ball without any formal get-up. Er... no, but more to do with swimming and fighting than dancing. It's a little tough to explain."

*beams*
however, I'm yellow and gutsy
does your son get lost so easily? may I inquire after his name? *thinks: I can't go around saying green haired silverly yellow guy*

[Kraken]: "Supposing you don't know of Ecg then?"
*Slaps his forehead*
"Then that'd mean that maybe even though I had paid a literal ransom to get him in here... that he had gone daft and ditched."
}Sigh{
"I should never have let him off from being galley cook."

[Kraken II]: "Would you like some tea? I've a small pot of it on this little boiler-burner thingy here. Heats up nice with one or two coals is all. Got it from a trade in the East."
*Gets out a set from the small trunk he had brought with him.*

[Kraken the lesser]: "Funny that you should mention prints,- do you like to make some of those? I've a real set I'd pinched off a merchant vessel off the coast of... well, somewheres. Compass had broke. I had to buy a new one. By the time that had happened it was somewhere where I was not there anymore. Could sell it to you fairly cheaply."
*There is something a tiny bit scrutinizing to the look in his eyes as he says this, and he leans on the pommel to his cutlass, as if lost in thought a bit.*
His parrot bites him on the ear and he quickly comes to though.
"Aargh, Petey- stop that. Yes,- those are also in the trunk."
