I've wanted to write something like this for a while, but I've only just got round to doing it.

What a nice read
No nasty things I can see, although in your link to StridingEdge, it should be Striding Edge shouldn't it? (with the space )

Lovely entry. I was up around Glenridding a few years ago on holiday and really regret not tackling Helvellyn. Lovely part of the country, that.

Could you put something near the start, or some point just before the first grid ref, that the grid refs will be in parenthesis, and ,then put the grid refs in parenthesis? That would make the lives of anyone wishing to peruse their map (umm, could you maybe include the map number too?) whilst reading somewhat easier and less mouse intensive/intrusive. It would also make your other footnotes look better.
Isn't there a pub near the Glenridding campsite with a splash guard in the gents?? Classy...
Striding Edge rocks btw ...

Woops, read too quickly - my suggestion would go at end of Routes to the Top of course...

A very interesting read
Once attaining the summit, will I see a many or few other hikers there? Just curious to know if there will be jostling for the good viewing spots or not.
>>generally the reserve of experience walkers<<
*experienced*
>>Helvellyn also features a triangulation point, which lies halfway between the two summits<<
Do most people know what a triangulation point is? Would it be better to simply say 'survey monument' or 'survey marker'?
Very good

Last time I went up Striding Edge we didn't see anyone - but to be fair, we could barely see oneanother, or indeed the ends of our noses.
Clouds = fast moving wall of greyness surrounding us, and compass required.
Certainly didn't see Red Tarn, although a subsequent trip proved its existence to our satisfaction.
In general, like most of the really fun scrambles of britain, striding edge can be positively congested on a fair day.

Just re-read this...
>>>the eastern approaches from Glenridding and Patterdale via a pair of ridges which form a horseshoe around Red Tarn provide panoramic views, with the walk along Striding Edge being particularly worthwhile.<<<
Was just wondering if perhaps this is a little bit too understated .
Its a pretty ridiculously minor point I know, but what with the overall length of the sentence, it just feels it would be better balanced against the earlier >>>much the same as any old ridge-bound fell<<<, if some form of adjective was inserted before the word panoramic. A nice strong stunning/wonderful/beautiful would provide a touch of overstatement, the net result of which would be to highlight the perfect understatement of the closing >>>particularly worthwhile<<<.
Umm, I should get back to work.
