Did anyone hear Wayne Rooney after the West Ham game?
Interviewer: How does it feel, Wayne? (etc)
Wazza: It's *****g... Oh, sorry! It's great (etc)
And Jorge Valdano last week or so.
"Football is made up of subjective feeling, of suggestion - and, in that, Anfield is unbeatable. Put a shit hanging from a stick in the middle of this passionate, crazy stadium and there are people who will tell you it's a work of art.
It's not: it's a shit hanging from a stick."

With me it's always manager quotes that spring to mind...
Martin Allen used to come out with some great stuff, my favourite one he told me is one he uses quite a bit:
"Don't pop the champagne when you win, and don't pop the pills when you lose."
and there was a great one from Barry Fry when he was managing Birmingham City, I think they'd taken the lead and gone on to lose 3-1:
"We started out like Juventus and ended up like Fray Bentos."

Was that about Jay-mee Carragher?
I always like off the cuff terrace chants as opposed to the half-mad ramblings of the players. Leeds fans singing "England's number 10" at David James and him counting off the people ahead of him in the pecking order and coming back with "England's number 4" was quite amusing.

Surely the best quote ever was by Archie McLeod, the Scotland manager in 1978.
When asked what Scotland would do after the World Cup, he said 'Retain it'.
You've gotta laugh. Especially if you're Scottish.

Wycombe have a player called Jermaine Easter - I think it was the Southend fans who started the chant "You're not as good as Christmas"
