i saw LoTR yesterday!
it was really froody! i havn't read the books for ages though. even though i know Gandalf doesn't die, it was still so sad!

yeah but when his mortal* body dies he returns to his maian form, a bit like what happened to sauron, & then goes back to valinor and is sent back.
Also you would think that the fact that the 2 maiar who went bad, sauron and saruman, were sent by the same vala would cast some doubt on the 'goodness' of that vala.
And how come every one, all the elves, the readers/viewers & that all know that gandalf is the most powerful of the istari, yet he denies it until his return from valinor?

Well thanx peeps I have just made my mind up about seeing the film.
The answer is: NO I AM NOT GONNA WAST MY TIME OR MONEY AS I AM TOTALLY CONFUSED.
