About five years ago I served William Gaunt a drink in the pub where I worked Had to ask him about Alexandra Bastedo

Well, she is an astonishingly beatiful lady. That reminds me, I haven't run the entry through a spell checker

Smashing!
Two thingies. Firstly, you mention Gideon's Way. Don't know whether you know this, but that was based on a series of books written by John Creasey (as in the father of one of our co-founders, Richard Creasey). You can find an edited entry about the books here: A610921
Second thing - the theme tune was by Tony Hatch, who also wrote the themes for Crossroads and Neighbours.

I wondered how long it would take for you to appear, Jimster
I didn't know who the author of the Gideon's Way books was, ta. I did know who the theme was by, but hadn't thought to mention it- it's probably worthy of comment though
Will update tonight.

Come to think of it, Tony Hatch also wrote the Petula Clark hit 'Downtown', covered by loads of people including the B-52s and sung by Winona Ryder in 'Girl, Interrupted'. Presumably he's got around a bit, as a professional songwriter. In fact, if there isn't an EG entry on him, I feel a Challenge h2g2 coming on...

Three things:
1) You might have to explain Dr. Alan Quartermaine for the hard of thinking, such as myself.
2) There isn't an 'e' in Petula Clark
3) You can't make me any more geeky than I already am... but at least I have a sense of style!

Hey! Petula, not Petunia!
Oh well, still another three days to incubate...

KerrAvon,
Loved the show, and I'm glad to see it covered here.
The one additional power with which I was impressed (besides tremendous speed), was the ability to detect weak points in structures. I remember one of them feeling along the side of a locked door, and finding the precise point at which to hit it to make it pop open.

Hello Kerr
Just thought I'd mention, in line with the US tradition of obvious titles, I believe the US title of Randall and Hopkirk[Deceased] was "My partner the ghost"
