Has anyone tried the lights to make sure they work?

We don't need lights, it's daytime and there's a fire anyway

But its always much easier to test the light before they go on the tree, saves having to fight your way round the back to change the fuse bulb.

*Gw7en comes charging in with lots of stockings for the fireplace and a plate full of brownies - just the regular kind*

I don't think that the fireplace is big enough for everyone's stockings... *three more appear, one on each wall* That's better! *begins hanging them*

Speaking of which, do you think the room's big enough for 30,000 researchers?

It might be a bit cramped, but I'm sure we'll manage...

*Beeblefish stumbles in with a jigger of dark spiced rum, some milk, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg
and the rest of t he ingredients for his ripping egg nog and wearing a Santa Hat.*

Hi Greebo - what can I do to help? I'm pretty good at blowing up balloons, and making paper chains. Have you got anyone to organise party games? I'd love to volunteer! But anything I can do to help is just fine. This party looks pretty good already to me. Where shall I put this box of doughnuts?

Do you think a game of pass the parcel would go down well? I could wrap up these doughnuts.....

Right then - musical chairs, apple bobbing, pin the tail on the researcher... Are these suitable games for the assembled thrall? Do we want something more 'adult'? Twister (with a twist), yard of ale contest, identify the researcher by touch only...? Any suggestions?

*Puts his Santa hat back on and pulls it over his eyes, produces a tail with some tape on the cack*

was rum infused by the good old "one-for-me, one-for-the-bowl" method.*

*Jasmine runs round the room, dodging Beeblefish, and taking frequent sips at the egg-nog - just to make sure it's okay*

I'll have a shortbread, and I wouldn't say no to a brownie either.

Darn it. Never could resist fresh baking! Guess it's my turn. I'll need a blindfold though.

I think the tinsel might be a little uncomfortable. I was thinking of maybe a scarf. Someone must have come in wearing one, after that nasty weather out there?

Anybody mind if I gatecrash? I'm afraid I didn't get an invitation and am currently just hanging around looking for something to pass the time, and I could smell that food
