Takeshi's Castle

One of the best TV imports ever is the Japanese gameshow, Takeshi's Castle. They took It's A Knockout and made it proper. It's hillarious watching them get mashed up in games like Stepping Stones or High Rollers. I love it!

I've seen that show here too! (Alabama)
We have it on a station called 'Spike TV' and they have dubbed over the show to add their own funny lines to it. Yes, watching them smash with the steppin stones and those big rolling log things is funny. Don't ask me why but I get a big giggle out of it

over here it's narrated by Craig Charles (Lister from Red Dwarf) and he's almost as funny as the contestant's injuries.
bring it on!

I LOVE Takeshi's Castle! And I laughed myself silly when I found out Mr Kitano himself was behind it!

did you see the special episode where the castle had been taken over and Kitano and the Emerald Guard had to do the game to reclaim the castle? now that was funny, they were all so crap at it, especially the skinny weed from the Sumo Rings game (i seem to remember him leaving by ambulance as Kitano wet himself with laughter)

Brilliant I love the specials, espically the last ever episode where they did a decathlon type event where the winners recived 1,000,000 yen (£5,000) but thats in eighties money!!!

innit!
they mash themselves up spectacularly and their prize money barely covers the cost of ointments.

tis brilliant. I wish they still made it, i wouldn't mind having a crack myself, but you wouldn't get away with it over here with our helth and saftey laws.

sadly no, i must have misssed that one. im sure we could always do it on an island somewhere in the south pasific just using UK contestants. they'll never stop us.

You didn't miss much, it was far too tame!

I've seen this show a few times. I like the show itself, but alas, all I have access to is the Spike TV version, and personally I can't stand the overdubbed dialogue. It's just inane... well, the show is inane too, but the show is inane and funny, wheras the dubbed dialogue is just inane. I wish I could hear what they were REALLY saying... of course, it may be closer to the dubbing than I think.

In Australia we get on the comedy channel it is so funny to watch them run into the walls and get back up and run smack bang into the walls again
