Was it Boots the Chemist?
As an aside, there's a Boots the Chemist which isn't part of the Chain. Every few years one of their lawyers looks into sueing the shop for Infringing their Trademark, only to discover the other shop has had the name for over 100 years.

DGI:
. a Company
. flies
. flies/flys or flew!!
Clues:
. First of its kind in the UK
. not pre WWII
. a shop (not a person) now found in many places.
.not a video store.
"Get your teeth into it".
Is it actually a shop, like a corner shop, department store etc. or an outlet or franchise, like McDonalds and Burger King, although the UK version, Wimpy, was first opened in the early '50's and has just dropped it's famous 'Knickerbocker Glory, after 40 years as per the Metro, 6th April.
*Must recycle the papers before they take over the place!*
