I knew it wasn't fjords, but when I read the title it had to be done.
Hmm, not estuary then, a gorge is further up and a canyon is a dry riverbed, a channel is between two islands.

its not a common word used in everyday place names, like sound.
i have not heard it since geography lessons 25 years ago, then it came to me in a flash in the middle of the night.

I object to mini being penalised for her loyalty to the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. Slartybartfast was indeed proud of his fjords and references to HHGttG should be proudly rewarded not punished on this site. Curse you batman!
