Ask Fragilis if she has any opinions on your project - I'm not sure but she may do, she's a pianist among other things... she lives here: http://www.h2g2.com/U136122smiley - smiley

Couldn't help noticing this baroque-project of yours going on... I wonder if I could be of any help... I'm kind of a pianist - or a student anyway - myself... If there's anything I could do I'd love to help... smiley - smiley

Hi. Thanks for the offer.
We're just getting started. The project outline (if you haven't already ...) is at A403435.
I'm looking for people who feel they could do any of:
- contribute a section\topic to the main article
- do a bio. of a major baroque composer (Purcell & JSBach done already)
- do an "in depth" (but not too deep) on a specific piece.

Anything there that grabs you?
Have a think and come back.
Cheers! smiley - smiley

I did take a look at the project page already... And I wonder... I could do just about anything - only analyzing pieces in English might cause some troubles... But a composer or a part of the main article - I could do that... But I can't choose... You tell me what to do, I'll obey... smiley - smiley

Great.
OK - how about a composer? There's no guide entry for good old G F Handel, and there should be heaps of material around. If you would draft an entry - not too heavy, maybe one to two screen pages - we can make sure it fits into the overall plan.
BTW you probably won't escape being asked to do a section in the main article, but that will be easier after I've started the draft, and we can see how it's looking. Give a shout if you need help finding data on GFH.
Many thanks! smiley - smiley

Well, he did become a British subject in 1726, so maybe we'll live without the umlaut.
Good luck - I look forward to a look at a draft. smiley - smiley

Don't hold your breath waiting... I'm not sure yet where I'll steal the time to do this... smiley - smiley But I will, somewhere... Oh, and now that I think of it - the first names are different in English too, aren't they? I've always used the German versions...

No problem - use what you're comfortable with - we'll decide what looks right later.
I can wait - well, for a few minutes anyway smiley - smiley
Seriously, whatever you can do, whenever, will be much appreciated.

Yes, it would. I'll bring a larger teapot and more cups tomorrow - it's getting busy here.
Thanks for your suggestion - I've asked Frag. - awaiting reply.
And I have started a draft - but it's on paper at the moment (how old-fashioned!) smiley - smiley
Sorry, but I'm out of time. Back with the tea in 15 hours.
Have an absolutely splendid day (if possible)

Sorry I've been away. For some reason this thread wasn't open yesterday. Thank goodness it's back.
I'm drafting the main article now, hoping to have something to show you this week. Quite pleased with how it's going.

BTW - I got my first item published yesterday - in the article on barbecues, mine's the bit about keeping fried aggs under control. smiley - smiley

See you soon - must fly.

Thanks. I got seriously diverted yesterday. We've had an American pianist (A scholar) over here for a couple of weeks. I talked with him about Baroque, but yesterday he spent about 2 hours doing a reconstruction of Mozart's D minor mass - the last piece he wrote. This guy analysed style, notation and content, and picked out several bits that were done by other composers - added later. He also went back to some original material, and found fragments that must be from sketches for the mass ... after two hours he played through what was there - somewhat mind-blowing.

Right - sorry for running on like that - just wanted to tell somebody. I'll take a couple of pills with my tea, and I'll be alright .... smiley - smiley

Keep well.
