I submitted a more detailed rant on the aceforum and I don't think that leaves much. In response to the wish to avoid a slanging match, that's exactly the intention. Personally, I'd like to see the ideas thrashed out between the aces in private and in a civilised manner, and then brought to the attention of the wider h2g2 community for comments and suggestions. I believe that it ought to be achievable without descending into personal abuse - so here's hoping...

with it. Your suggestion is the right approach and hopefully it will be seen as a positive way to re-evaluate everything.

I've just had a thought. Don't Yahoo! Groups still supply a chat room? Just a thought....

And we would be stuck there in case we missed something important while we're somewhere else... No sleep... No food... No Buffy repeats... No Hootoo...

I'll have to remember how to log into Yahoo directly then. Since following the debate will more difficult by ACEforum e mail.

I wouldn't worry too much in the immediate future - any discussion process still needs some careful thought and planning, and since the process must include the Italics, that may take some time too.

Then I have to wonder if anything will happen. Mort tried to make her point some time ago. And things only got worse. Just how miserable does the performance of the group have to become?

I actually have grate faith that the Aces will deal with it in a adult way
as far as digressing from the subject whatever that is at the time if it is broken down into x y z take x whats Aces thoughts and surgestions for that and thrash something that every one can agree on and then move on to the next one if you put it all in one you will get some agreeing on x some on y and one or two agreeing on z but the one's who have agreed on x might not agree with z if every one is on the same page to start with i thoink half your battle is won

I notice you're not an ACE Intern, so you won't be aware that following discussions in the Aceforum, this is what this thread is about

I think the only way this could be achieved is for the ACE rules to be changed slightly.
Perhaps putting forward a suggestion that an ACE, when logging on, goes and does 2 ACEings.
Simply really....
*suddenly remembers she also handed in her ACE badge because of the above*
*backs out of thread before anyone notices she's been there*
*tiptoes out of backdoor and stumbles over back of rubbish outside back door*

True. For example, I log on at work sometimes (like now - I don't wanna finish this report!) and don't have the chance to

No. I don't think that setting a number of new researchers to be *every* time one logs on is a good approach. I think though perhaps the ACEs could have a rota. Where they promise to spend any free moment they get on a certain day dealing with the new researcher list. Now obviously some days will be more popular than others. But maybe a first and second choice system will deal with the worst of that.
I also think there should be more sharing between ACEs of info on any new interesting places we might want to send new researchers with special interests etc...

A kind of 'duty Aces' idea...
Probably one to discuss - but easy on the ideas for now! It's early days yet...
