American fruitcakes tend to be too hard to be consumed by anything living. There are some cakes that are in museums because they are over a century old. Giving someone a fruitcake means that you don't care enough to even attempt to think about buying that person a gift because the cake is ineddible (sp) and generally unattractive. It's like giving someone a colorful, sticky doorstop.

While they were constructing the ramp, a cousing of mine pushed her friends in a wheelchair into the dining ahll through the kitchen. The meat was labled "Grade D - Edible"
